What is the reason for an objective statement?

1. To succinctly sum up how you’re going to make this hiring manager’s job easy or exactly what you will do.

• You need to tailor to the job opportunity.

2. To make sure that your resume gets to the right person.

• An objective statement tells the person reading your resume the exact position that you would like.



What do you put in your objective statement?

• Use key words from the job description.

• Highlight what you’re going to bring to the organization.


Here’s an example that’s really strong:

“Executive Administrative Assistant seeks opportunity to support CXO in XYZ

industry.”


Think about all we know about this person:


“Executive Administrative Assistant seeks opportunity to support CXO in XYZ industry.”

• We know that she:

• Employer’s name on the left, with the title under it.

• Is use them to quantify your skills or accomplishments.

• This is the number one problem that everyone has on their resume.

This is one of the top things that you can do to make your resume an interview magnet.



What does it mean to QUANTIFY your accomplishments?

• Here are some examples:

Quantify, quantify, quantify… this speaks to hiring managers.
