RESUME
She studies Flamenco theory and she has designed a flamenco course for people who want to get to know the flamenco communication and history.She collaborates with a number of flamenco dance groups, participates in concerts and shows all around Greece, Germany and Turkey, she teaches technique and flamenco singing .
Having good friends on her side, she created the flamenco choir “Los gatos negros” in Athens and since 2010 she organize the Christmas Flamenco Fiesta called “Zambomba” (www.zambomba.gr), a fiesta which unites all the flamenco artists of Greece on the stage in order to raise money for institutions with children.
She also writes her own lyrics and she works with remarkable musicians in Greece and abroad.
She is the mother of Charalambos who has been the source of her inspiration to continue.
Yota “Baron” was born in Serres (north Greece). Her influences since her childhood were including traditional greek music as almost half of her family were street musicians. She was raised in an institution of children , where she learned Byzantine Music (songs and hymns composed to the ecclesiastical forms) She studied Economins and Accounting at TEI of Athens.
She began flamenco dancing in 2000 and later she attended courses with famous maestros of flamenco dancing like Israel Galvan, Javier Baron, Rosario Toledo, Mercedes Ruiz, Blanca del Rey, Joaquin Grilo, Leonor Leal in both Greece and Spain. She started studying flamenco singing from 2004 with the intention to comprehend further and in-depth the communication between song-music and dance. In the same year, she sang for the first time alongside Maria Mortilla Gomez at the show of the “Estrella” dance studio. After that, she began attending intensive classes in Jerez de la frontera in Andalusia, with singers like Eva Rubicci, Mercedes Gomez, Mati Gomez and Jose Anillo.
Since then she had allot of singing teachers in Seville where she travels every year. Among others she had classes with Jeromo Segura, Rafael de Utrera, David Lagos, and Rosa de Algeciras.
