Resume cover letter

• A cover letter introduces your resume• Never send just a resume• Try to send the cover letter and resume to a

person• A cover letter is not your resume

Cover letters cont.

• What information does it include?• 1. your contact information again in standard

business letter format name, address, email and phone contact

• 2. the person you are writing t• 3. the company or organization’s address

• As with the resume, there are no hard and fast rules.

• Generally, the first paragraph will introduce yourself

• It will also include the job or position you are interested in and how you located the information regarding the job

• The middle paragraph will contain a very brief summary of your resume.

• The closing paragraph with ask for permission to contact someone about the job.

• A standard salutation is used at the end• “Thank you for your attention,” or “sincerely” • Sign your name as it appears on the resume• Encl. resume at the end
