Instituted the weekly “What’s Up In South Bend Parks?” e-newsletter, which became the department’s largest promotional piece. Collaborated on development and maintenance of the website (awarded Best Site, Class III city 2003). Responsible for overseeing re-design of this site in 2011. Managed Facebook social media efforts. Produced, developed marketing & promotion and talent coordinator for the South Bend Blues & Ribs Festival, 2011-2013, and South Bend Country Fest, 2014-2015, All included national entertainment, and was the department’s main find-raising activity for development of the special needs facility, Miracle Park. Cultivated corporate sponsors to financially support the departments many activities and events. Developed partnerships with Convention Bureau, corporations and local not-for-profits. Department facilities included three golf courses, public zoo, fitness center, recreational programs, nature center, East Race Waterway, and three recreation centers. Served as departmental liaison with media, Mayor’s Office and other municipal departments. Century Center Convention Center/City of South Bend South Bend, Indiana SALES MANAGER/TRADESHOWS & MEETINGS (APRIL 1990-JUNE 2000) Sales and marketing of one of the busiest convention centers in the Midwest, to corporations for use in private dealer shows, public trade shows, and corporate meetings. Negotiated and executed contracts. Designed promotional materials for use in local, regional, and national marketing. Collaborated with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, South Bend/Mishawaka Hotel/Motel Sales Organization, and an executive member of the Valley Chapter of Manufactured Housing and Recreational Vehicles. Served on the Executive Board as Treasurer and Secretary. EDUCATION Indiana University/South Bend South Bend, Indiana BACHELOR OF SCIENCE/PUBLIC AFFAIRS (1978-80; 1982-87) Policy & Administration concentration. Internship with the Indiana State Legislature, House of Representatives, Media Office during the 1987 long session.
