2. Introduction JVS Scheeps- en Industrietechniek B.V. had been ordered by ThyssenKrupp Veerhaven B.V. to perform shaft output measurements at the portside propulsion installation of the pushboat “VEERHAVEN IX” This investigation is done in corporation with SGS(emission measurements) and GEO the manufacturer of the hydrogen injecting unit. Following measurements has been conducted :

- measurements with hydrogen injection the charging air The shaft output is used as a parameter to compare the emissions for the measured condition.

3. Measuring method The transmitted shaft torque had been measured with strain gauges which were glued on the propeller shaft. With a frequency modulated system the signal is wirelessly transmitted. After demodulation the signal is proportional to the torque. The rpm has been measured with an infra red pick-up system. The shaft output is calculated from the shaft torque and rpm.

4. Summary measuring results In following table the average shaft outputs for the different runs are presented and compared with the measurements performed May 4th 2011.
