What is respiration ?

• Breathing ?

What is respiration ?

• oxidising food

• releasing energy

• ...similar to burning

The main points

• Food (usually glucose, a sugar) “burns” using oxygen

• releasing useful energy

• producing carbon dioxide and water as waste products

In other words...
