Construction Work In the weeks to come, numerous tradespeople will descend on our school to prepare for the removal and reinstall, of the roofing in the Kindergarten and Year 1 buildings either side of the K-2 COLA. We have waited a very long time for this work to commence, but we now have a scheduled start and finish date that, weather depending, will be complete by the commencement of school in Term 2. The work will provide a much needed facelift to that area of the school. This work will be the start of a series of ongoing improvements to our buildings over the next few years. Morning Procedure Week 5 has come around very quickly and it marks a good opportunity to remind everyone of the morning routine at WWS. • Before the 8:30 bell students are to wait on the silver seats outside the staffroom. If parents are waiting with their children we ask that they wait in this area too. • When the 8:30 bell rings – K-2: walk down with the duty teacher, put bags away and are only allowed to play in the concreted area near the K- 2 COLA. Students are not to play on the verandas. • 3-6: play in basketball court and 3-6 COLA area near the canteen. • Music starts, students line up at designated areas. We love having our parents and school community on site and sharing the school experience with the children. With that said, we kindly request that parents and carers stay clear of the veranda/window areas once the children

have entered the classroom or right before the end of the school day. This allows our staff to keep the attention of the students at these key times of the school day. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated. Former WWS kids doing great things! I’ve recently been informed that several former WWS students who are now in Year 7 at Brisbane Water Secondary College, Umina Campus, have been elected to the Student Representative Council. We are hardly surprised by this, as we are extremely proud of the achievements of the children who have attended our school. We know they will make fantastic leaders and role models in the high school setting. They may be at high school now, but in our eyes they will always be WWS kids! Have a great week everyone, Matt Barr Principal

Abbie, Mimi & Archer in KW received a Principal’s Award this week from Mr.

Es1 & Stage 1 Science with Ms Cullen

Science for Kindergarten is all about investigating what is alive and not.

This week we went for a nature walk and used magnifiers to investigate the garden.

Science for Stage 1 is all about investigating where food comes from. This week we visited the canteen and discovered some foods are made and

some foods are natural. 2K took a visit to the canteen.

EMMELINE

This week in 3/4T students have been learning to Tighten the Tension in writing. When

tightening the tension students use their senses of sight,

hearing, smell, taste and touch to really imagine themselves in

the specific scenario.

They are learning to write descriptively and build up the suspense for the reader. Here

are some examples of the students tightening the tension

in the jungle.
