Investors, retirees boost marketUPGRADERS and investors are returningto the market in the wake of the scaled-back First Home Owners’ Grant,accounting for an increasing number ofland sales, says one of the State’s leadingresidential developers, Mirvac.

Mirvac WA chief executive EvanCampbell said since the end of the firsthome owners’ boost last year, secondhome buyers, investors and retirees hadcome back to the market and weredominating sales, taking over from first-home buyers in the property market.

Mr Campbell said while sales to first-home buyers were still strong, thependulum had started to swing towards

those looking to invest or upgrade,particularly at Mirvac’s residentialcommunities in Mandurah.

“First-home buyers were snapping upland in our Meadow Springs andSeascapes communities last year, but thisyear there has been a definite shifttowards second and third home buyersand investors,” he said.

“Of our last 25 sales at MeadowSprings, three-quarters have been eitherupgraders or investors, while all sales overthe last three months in Seascapes havebeen to this market.”

Mr Campbell said the change was aresult of increased confidence.
