O range Grove Center began as a vision of a group of parents in the 1950’s in the Chattanooga area who wanted options for their children with intellectual disabilities. at vision has grown to encompass a school program, physician-based health care clinic, Industrial Training Center, recycling programs, community job placement, residential services, and a variety of extraordinary and supplemental services that serve the metro area. We currently support approximately 700 individuals with intellectual disabilities. The residential component of Orange Grove Center operates traditional group homes that serve four to eight individuals in a community-based, home-like setting. Our homes are staffed by a live-in house manager and direct support staff, who provide 24-hour supervision and protective care. Staff-to-clients ratios are considerably low. Services include: Nutritious meals and snacks daily for each resident, with consideration of individual preferences and dietary limitations or restrictions Assistance in daily living activities, laundry, clothing maintenance, shopping, etc. Recreation and leisure activities Transportation for medical appointments, social outings and various activities Continuous assessment of needs and conditions Assistance with money management, administration of medication, crisis management, etc. R esidential Services is designed to en- able adults with disabilities to enjoy the independence of having a home of their own, and to be able to maintain residence in their communities through residential supports. e overall goal is a managed ap- proach to helping them reach obtainable individualized goals with few restrictions. ese goals may include learning basic in- dependent living skills, community inte- gration and socialization. House exteriors and yards are well-main- tained, enabling them to blend into their communities, and home furnishings are comfortable, functional, and in good taste. Residents are welcome to bring personal items. The individuals we support participate in an array of activities locally and abroad. From bowling, Dream League Softball, attending free music venues on the river front, din- ing, shopping, Special Olympics, travel to major cities, and attending religious servic- es. Your family member can find a home with Orange Grove!
