JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: RESIDENTIAL ADVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for oversight of emergency domestic violence shelter, client admissions, client assistance, and crisis line coverage during assigned shift. HOURS: Monday through Sunday-approximately forty (40) hours per week with a varied daily, evening and overnight work schedule with (16) hour shifts. Position also requires overnight and weekend hours. Some travel may be required. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum requirement of a high school diploma or GED. Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Shelter Services Manager DUTIES: SHELTER DUTIES Answer all calls coming into the Center, including domestic violence/sexual assault calls, crisis calls, calls for shelter clearance and requests for legal assistance and counseling, and handle /refer as appropriate Provide orientation and support for all residents of the shelter, giving particular attention to new residents Ensure that clients adhere to shelter rules and procedures Meet with residents to discuss any rule violations and refer more serious violations to the Shelter Services Manager or the Clinical Services Director for further action Refer residents to the counselor when in crisis or as needed Report any known or suspected child abuse issues to the Shelter Services Manager and the Director. Refer any parents who are having discipline or behavioral issues with their children to the Children's Program staff to address Maintain the following documentation/logs: intake log and file number, RA log and daily reports, call log, files and forms in the shelter area, and medication log/resident medications Monitor the shelter resident's self-administration of medication and report any concerns or problems to appropriate staff Monitor the following on each shift: clients/staff safety, security cameras/video tapes, security/fire alarms, interior/exterior of building, parking lot, resident chores, and shelter maintenance issues Secure the following on each shift: doors/exits, windows, resident rooms, and resident belongings When necessary and appropriate, assess safety issues and/or security concerns of shelter residents and make recommendations as to ‘heightened security’ for the Center Prepare resident chore list daily, rotating assignments among the shelter residents (completed on the midnight shift). Dispense needed supplies, toiletries, and personal items/clothes to shelter residents

Notify Facility Manager of needed supplies for shelter and/or individual residential clients

Enforce cleanliness of shelter areas, including absence of clutter

Report maintenance needs and/or repairs to Facility Manager

Oversee client discharges from the shelter

Provide client transportation as needed to community locations, various agencies, and other outreach destinations

OTHER DUTIES:

Assist with hurricane evacuation and facility preparation

Provide agency and client transportation as needed

In case of emergencies and extreme circumstances, will be required to assist with 24-hour shelter coverage

Work in conjunction with all other program components and staff to ensure effective communication of all client concerns, recommendations, and needs

AGENCY COMPLIANCE.

Adhere to the agency's confidentiality policies

Report any suspicious activity or persons

Complete required documentation for call logs, RA log and daily reports, etc…

Attend and participate in mandatory RA staff meetings per schedule

Report to work on time as scheduled

Perform all other duties as assigned by the and Shelter Services Manager
