RESIDENT NEWSLETTER JAGUAR LAND ROVER SOLIHULL Issue 19 | October 2016 In September 2016, Jaguar Land Rover held three days of public consultation to share proposed plans for a new Logistics Operations Centre (LOC). These events were well attended by the local community and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came or provided feedback via our dedicated website and email address. We want to assure you that all feedback has been reviewed and we have taken on board the key issues that were raised. Three key areas have been acknowledged as common themes from the consultation to date. These are; traffic and the impact on the local network; ecology and the impact on natural habitats; and the LOC’s appearance and how it will sit within its environment. Traffic and the impact on the local network Many of you commented about the improvement in the reduction of HGV traffic on the residential part of Damson Parkway following the development of our dispatch facility. We remain committed to ensuring this continues and are seeking a solution to direct all non Plant bound HGV traffic from the LOC back onto the A45, avoiding the local residential roads. We are also working with the relevant authorities to optimise traffic flow on the local road network. Ecology and the impact on natural habitats We are committed to achieving no net loss of biodiversity by either having additional habitat e.g. planting hedgerows on site, or off setting in the local area (off site). To date we have carried out seven different types of ecological surveys and are working with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s Ecologist to identify how we can minimise the impact on local wildlife and conservation. Logistics Operations Centre’s design within the local environment In the above visual we have provided additional detail to help you identify the proposed location of our LOC. We remain committed to sympathetically designing the LOC so it is in fitting with the local area. In September 2016, Jaguar Land Rover held three days of public consultation to share proposed plans for a new Logistics Operations Centre (LOC). These events were well attended by the local community and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came or provided feedback via our dedicated website and email address. Three key areas have been acknowledged as common themes from the consultation to date. These are; traffic and the impact on the local network; ecology and the impact on natural habitats; and the LOC’s appearance and how it will sit within its environment.

BEING A GOOD NEIGHBOUR IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

Our manufacturing facility at Solihull has been producing cars for nearly 70 years. We pride ourselves in working with the local community and playing our part as a good neighbour through:

CSR activities: This year alone 640 colleagues have given up 6,000 hours to volunteer in the local community. Following the LOC consultation, a number of local residents have suggested some projects in the local area which we aim to support. This includes Friends of Damson Park’s suggestion in planting 15-20 semi-mature trees in Damson Lane Park. This work will be undertaken in November. Over 5,000 students have attended our onsite Education Business Partnership Centre to promote careers in manufacturing and engineering.

Parking: We regularly communicate to our workforce not to park in resident areas. We have introduced a new infringement policy for repeat offenders where we have issued 130 warnings in the last year and dismissed two colleagues.Safety on the roads: We regularly remind our workforce not to use excessive speed on the local roads and support the local authorities and resident associations in speed checks.

A good neighbour: We fund a road sweeper to clean the surrounding streets each week and our cleaning contractor Voith undertakes litter patrols on Lode Lane daily. Our Business Protection team regularly patrol the exits of our plant including the local bus stops during shift changeover to remind our workforce of the behaviour we expect.

This is a suggested design which was shared at the public consultation.

We have pledged that throughout this process we would keep you fully informed of developments. We would therefore like to invite you along to our next drop-in session to review our response to your concerns.

The session will run from 4pm – 7pm on Tuesday 1st November at our Visitor Reception: Jaguar Land Rover, Lode

Lane, Solihull, West Midlands, B92 8NW. There is car parking for visitors available on site.

We hope that you are able to attend and review our updated plans based on the responses we have received to date on our consultation.

If you are unable to attend but would like to keep updated on the LOC proposal then you can either email [email protected] or freephone 0800 130 3348 (Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm). We also have a dedicated website www.JLR-LOC.com where you can read more about our plans.
