This month’s Featured Artists: Tammy Lee Berry
Art Gallery
After a lifetime of serving as a public education teacher and librarian in Virginia and raising her
wonderful children, Tammy has retired and is pursuing a dream to make her photography a bigger part of life.
Since she was a teenager, her passion to capture the world around her has existed. Love for literature and writing
led her to a bachelor's degree in English and library media, and a master's degree in special education. These
degrees served her well during a teaching career that ended in June, 2017.
In her own words: "Be still, and listen. Great advice that I use when I want to see better. The world is an
interesting place, and when I simply sit and listen I see it with a new passion. Cityscapes, farm land, animals in
their natural habitat…all of these intrigue me. When I am fortunate enough to capture these “sounds” with my
camera, I want to share them. Often people tell me, “That reminds me of our vacation,” or “It brings back
memories of growing up near there,” or “I think of my dad's farm when I look at your pictures.” Statements like
these tell me I am doing something right. I listen so that I see more creatively. My photographs allow me to share
the creativity that opens all our senses."

As a follow-up to our study on the apostle,
Simon Peter, I am excited to take a fresh look at
the letters attributed to Peter in the New
Testament. Each week we will look forward to examining
these writings in light of the
man we met in our recent
study called Simon
Peter: Flawed but Faithful
Disciple. How does Peter’s
personality come through in
1st and 2nd Peter? While
biblical scholars debate
whether Peter actually wrote both of these letters, it will be
interesting to look for connections between the disciple described in
the gospels and the writings of 1st and 2nd Peter. Can you support
the idea that the letters were written by Simon Peter? Join us to
form your opinion.
Please join me each Tuesday at 10:00AM in the Wellness Center
Conference Room as we continue to look at Peter, the Rock upon
which Jesus built His church.
Blessings,
