Get and Print DocumentsDeliver multiplefull-textdocumentsormultiple Shepard’sCitationsServicereportswith one search, from one screen. Here’s how:

1. Click the Get a Document tab.

2. Click the Get & Print link.

Note: You may be asked for your LexisNexis ID and Password.

3. Enterasessionname(upto32characters)intheSESSIONfield.

4. Typeyourcitations,separatedby semicolons.

Option 2: Look for a Source

Selectanappropriatetab.Thenpointandclickthrough the hierarchy until you find the source youneed.(Eachselectionyoumakecreatesa “trail” showing your path at the top of the screen.)Clickasourcenametoselectit.

To select more than one source, click the white check box next to each source name. Move between menu pages to select sources if you wish. Then click Combine Sources. Your combined source set will also be saved in Recently Used Sources for later use. Enhanced Find A Source Tab

Completing the Search Form

Now see similar, relevant sources. Add one or more to your search.

1. Selectthesearchformatyouwanttouse.

Terms and Connectors(Booleansearchlogic)useswordsandconnectorstocreatephrasesandconcepts,e.g.,drug /15 test! OR screen! /10 employ! Click on a connector in theonlineSearchConnectorsboxforexamples.(Alsosee page6ofthispublication.)

Natural Language (theFREESTYLE™feature)uses “plainEnglish”questionsorphrases(asyouwouldinconversation),e.g.,Can employment drug screening be a contract arbitration issue? Results are ranked by relevance.

2. Type your search words. Click Suggest terms for my searchtofindadditionalterms.Otheroptions:

Segment Search—InyourTermsandConnectorssearch, youmaysearchonlyspecificpartsorsegments of documents.Clickthedrop-downSelect a Segment box for a list of available segments for that source. Also restrict the date range of your search.

Mandatory Terms—Inyournaturallanguagesearch, youmayindicatethataspecifictermmustappearinalldocuments by selecting the Mandatory Terms option.

Now lexis.com users have the ability to change the QuickSearch/RecentlyUsedSourcestabdefaults.Thelast tab you use to run a search when your lexis.com session ends isthefirsttabtoappearthenexttimeyoulogon.Thus,whenyourunasearchusingeithertheQuickSearchorRecentlyUsedSourcestabs,andthenlogoff,themostrecenttabusedwillautomaticallyappearfirstonyourscreenthenexttimeyou sign in to lexis.com.

Shepard’s Alert for StatutesThe Shepard’s Alertfeaturemakesiteasytostayup-to-date on recent or pending legislation that may affect the validity of your statute. Current coverage includes federalstatutesandlegislation,aswellasstatutesand legislation from selected states. Check with your LexisNexisrepresentativeforrecentupdates,aswemoveclosertoourgoalof50-statecoveragefor statutes and legislation.

At the Shepard’sAlertsetupscreen(shown above):

1. Name your Shepard’s update search. (Thecasenameisthedefault.)

2. Selectthetypesofchanges to monitor.

3. Selectyourupdate schedule. Also select a date to end your updates.
