Compare Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine

To educate my classmates about TCM and WM

Hypothesis

That Traditional Chinese Medicine is safer than Western Medicine

Fever

WM - Aspirin TCM – Ling Ying

Ingredients Salicylic Acid Antelope’s Horn

Effectiveness Halts the infection that causes the body to heat up

Cures heatiness that causes fever

Side Effects Ulcers, stomach bleeding

No side effects

Cold

WM – Panadol for Cold and Flu

TCM – Sang Ju Yin Pian

Ingredients Paracetamol, Caffeine Chrysanthemum, Apricot seed, Mulberry leaves

Effectiveness Fast relief from cold and flu

Halts the cold virus from spreading

Side Effects Harms the liver with toxin

Few adverse effects

Painkillers

WM - Voltaren TCM - Acupuncture

Ingredients Diclofinac Sodium Acupuncture needles made of very thin sterile steel

Effectiveness Brings out a cool sensation to relieve pain and fever

The needles, after put into the body, cause warmth to relieve pain

Side Effects The user tends to eat a lot

Asthma

WM - Prednisolone TCM – Ping Chuan Wan

Ingredients Steroids Cortex Mori, Gecko, Phlogopitum

Effectiveness Helps to cure the inflammatory virus that causes asthma

Strengthens lungs and reduces phlegm

Effectiveness Helps to reduce stomach aches and improves Arthritis situations

Conclusion

I have concluded that TCM is safer than WM because TCM has lesser side effects than WM.

Therefore, I would like to present an alternative treatment to the common ailments because I think it is more useful.

It is also because I strongly believe that TCM can strengthen their health and provide a more natural healing process than WM.
