JAKE NAVAJake Nava has created numerous award winning pieces over

the past decade, being a director of music videos as well as TV commercials and working with some of the best-known artists and brands worldwide. One of his best known pieces of work was his creation for Adele’s number one song ‘Someone Like You’.

Although he has also created a couple of advertisements for successful advertising campaigns including Armani. One of its most successful one was Nava’s Anti-Gun campaign which managed to reach over 90% of its target audience, whilst its aim was to ultimately reduce inner city crime rate. From this campaign alone Jake Nava received three D&AD nominations.

In my opinion, from the work I have seen Jake Nava direct, he is good at taking what the musicians want and producing it without putting his own twist/style on it. His creation of Arctic Monkeys, Arabella, holds many similarities to my music video as it is monochromic and uses various camera movement to give it that edgy look that I am aiming to achieve.

MARK ROMANEK

The first film Romanek directed was Static, and it was released in 1986. he took a few years writing screenplays, however found his passion laid most heavily in music videos and thus signed on with Satellite Films, apart of Propaganda Films. He has worked with many top-selling record artists, with genre not being a barrier for his success. His work with Nine Inch Nails song ‘Closer’ was without a doubt one of his most notable videos. Many people criticized the video for being ‘too disturbing’, however it was critically acclaimed that so many of the fans loved it, and outsiders were unable to embrace the aim of what he was aiming to discover. This was not his first success, he received his first Grammy for the video ‘Scream’ – by Michael and Janet Jackson. He has been critically judged as creating the most personal and moving video ever, and for this performance he received his 3rd Grammy as well as a VMA to add to his portfolio. One of his most recent successes was the Taylor Swift’s screaming success – ‘Shake It Off’.

DAVID FINCHEROriginating from Denver, Colorado, David Andrew Leo Fincher is an American film director, as well as producer, television producer and music video director. He is extremely well known for the abundance of award winning films he has been involved with, including; ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and ‘Gone Girl’. He has also worked rather close with Madonna , however it is safe to say his most impressive work is most definitely in the film industry, and therefore is what he is most known for. Unfortunately there was a trough within David’s career which meant he had to backtrack to the commercial, and music industry. This was mostly due to the tragically unsuccessful film ‘Alien 3’, which happened to be the first film he had ever directed. He has won many Grammies, he also earned back-to-back MTV video Music Awards for Best Direction in 1989, and another one in 1990 for ‘Vogue’. In this year he was also nominated for ¾ of the possible nominations in the Best Directors category.
