OTTAWA - A third-consecutive drop in home resale activity in Canada in June primarily reflected a sharp 11.7% decline in Ontario. Resales fell by 6.7% nationally last month. The aggregate benchmark price was flat but the annual rate of increase moderated for a second-straight month to 15.8%, an RBC report said. It adds demand-supply conditions eased further in June; yet they remained balanced overall in Canada. After surging in the previous four months, the number of homes put out for sale in June fell slightly from May. Recent policy changes in Ontario brought a welcome chill to previously red-hot markets in the province's Greater Golden Horseshoe region, including Toronto. The bank expects cooler activity to persist through the remainder of this year. Adjustments to Ontario's Fair Housing Plan introduced in April still clearly dominated the housing picture in Canada in June. The Canadian Real Estate Association (Crea) reported recently that home resales plunged by 11.7% month over month in the province, which came on the heels of a steep 15.0% fall in May. The Toronto-area market led the latest monthly decline once again, recording a 15.1% drop. Since reaching an all-time high in March (on a seasonally-adjusted basis), home resales have plummeted by almost 42% in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This represented the steepest three-month drop in more than 27 years. Other previously red-hot markets in Ontario such as Hamilton and Barrie also experienced significant corrections in the past three months, including in June. The bank is encouraged to note that new listings eased slightly last month in Ontario after reaching unprecedented levels in April and May. After swinging dramatically from a scorching hot seller's market to one that is on the fringe of becoming a buyer's market, demand-supply conditions changed little in the Toronto-area market in June. The persistence of conditions more favourable to buyers last month led to the first month-over-month decline (-0.7%) in Toronto's benchmark price in almost three years in June. On a year-over-year basis, the rate of increase in the benchmark moderated for the second-straight month to 25.3% from a high of 31.3% in April. There are signs that moderate downward price pressure also is building in other southern Ontario markets. Average home prices declined month-over-month in the majority of those markets in June, including Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph. We expect prices to ease further in the near term in southern Ontario. 'Partial radiotherapy better for breast cancer patients' LONDON, (IANS) Breast cancer patients who have radio- therapy targeted at the original tumour site are likely to expe- rience fewer side effects five years after treatment than those who have whole breast radiotherapy, according to trial re- sults. The findings of the IMPORT LOW trial, published in the journal The Lancet, showed that women who received partial radiotherapy reported fewer long-term changes to the appear- ance and feel of their breast than those who had radiotherapy to the whole breast. Further, five years after treatment, almost all patients were disease-free, the researchers said. "We started this trial because there was evidence that if someone's cancer returns, it tends to do so close to the site of the original tumour, suggesting that some women receive unnecessary radiation to the whole breast," said lead re- searcher Charlotte Coles from the Cambridge University. "Now we have evidence to support the use of less, but equally effective, radio- therapy for selected patients," Coles added. For the study, the team studied more than 2,000 women aged 50 or over who had early stage breast cancer that was at a low risk of coming back.

Their music drives the National Film Award winningIndian documentary, Soz - A ballad of maladies, and theirpopular song, Beparwah, will feature in a soon-to-be-releasedmainstream Hindi film, Vodka Diaries. The band is currentlytouring extensively in India while working on their sophomorealbum.Comprising two Muslims, a Catholic, and a Hindu, Parvaaz wasbrought together by ties of humanity, respect and love of music. In doing so, they embody a diverse modern India, not unlikemodern Canada. For a band whose music has such a distinctidentity in its members' own heritage, this tour represents anoppor tunity to present that to a completely new audience. Thiscombination of staying true to one's roots while going out ofone's comfor t zone is reflected in the tour's name, A RootedDepar ture. When other bands from India have previously toured Canada, their music has either been in the fusion genre, led strongly bytheir ethnicity or completely Western. Parvaaz, however, bringwith them a balanced palate of the East gift-wrapped in theWest, the past woven with the present, soaring vocals thrusthigher by a progressive soundscape and melancholy sub-merged in beauty. Waves of delayed gratification lay in store, waiting to wash over their unsuspecting listeners in the GreaterToronto Area later this month and next.

Parvaaz are: Khalid Ahamed (vocals and guitar); Kashif Iqbal(guitar and vocals); Fidel D'Souza (bass guitar) and SachinBanandur (drums and percussions).A ROOTED DEPARTURE | PARVAAZ CANADIAN TOURAug 18 Monster Rock Orchestra, Garden Square |

The Commemorative $10 Bill: Depictingthe Beauty and Breadth of Canada

The Canada 150 bank note, which marks the 150th anniversary ofConfederation, began circulating earlier this spring, before the July1st celebrations, when Canadians from coast to coast to coast wavedthe maple leaf in honour of this great nation. Maple leaves are wellrepresented on the front of this commemorative note. But flip it over tosee the rugged splendour of Canada in five images on the back thatshow different regions of the country and depict the beauty and breadthof our land?.The image of the West Coast shows The Lions or Twin Sisters, majes-tic mountain peaks that overlook Vancouver, British Columbia. Theyare par t of the vast Coast Mountains that stretch 1,600 kilometresfrom Vancouver to the Yukon. The name The Lions was given by JohnHamilton Gray, one of the Fathers of Confederat ion. The localSquamish people know the peaks as Ch'ich'iyúyElxwíkn, or theTwin Sisters. The view of these peaks shows Capilano Lake in theforeground, named after the supreme chief of the Squamishpeoples. For the Prairie provinces, the image is of stalks of wheat ripeningon a family farm outside Regina, Saskatchewan. Wheat is one ofthe most impor tant cultivated crops in all of Canada. The bulk ofCanadian wheat is grown in the Prairie provinces of WesternCanada: Saskatchewan is the largest producer, followed by Alber taand Manitoba. The landscape representing Central Canada showsa forest on the bank of the Kipawa River, which ripples across theancient rock of the Canadian Shield in Parc national d'Opémicanin Quebec. Stretching from nor thern Alber ta to Newfoundland andLabrador and from central Ontario to the Nor thwest Territories

and Nunavut, the Shield covers 4.8 mill ion square kilometres, roughly half the total land area of Canada. For the East Coast landscape, the Atlantic Ocean meets the rockycoast of Cape Bonavista in Newfoundland and Labrador. The nearbytown of Bonavistais one of the earliest European communities inNor th America. The Cape has historical impor tance as a possiblelanding si te of John Cabot, who sai led to Nor th America in1497.Bonavista's name is attributed to Cabot, who is said to haveexclaimed, "Oh, buona vista" in his native Italian upon sightingland. This translates to "Oh happy sight." Finally, the Nor th isdepicted with the nor thern lights dancing above Canada's largestnational park, Wood Buffalo. This incredible natural preserve isone of the largest national parks in the world, straddling the bound-ary between Alber ta and the Nor thwest Territories.Designed by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada as theworld's largest dark sky preserve in 2013, Wood Buffalo is one ofthe most ideal places on Ear th to see the nor thern lights. Pack right tools beforetravelling during monsoonNEW DELHI, (IANS) Before going on a trip during rainy season, it isimportant to carry the right tools and instruments to save your be-longings like cellphone and wallet from drenching. Carry zip lockbags, umbrellas, mosquito repellents and waterproof backpacks, suggest experts. Narayana Menon K, co-founder at Wandertrails, anonline platform enabling discovery and booking of experiences, haslisted a few necessary items:* Arm yourself with an umbrella or raincoat. A waterproof backpackis a must-have.* Always carry a zip lock bag. It is good to keep the wallet and otherexpensive belongings safe as well like the smartphone and maybeother equipments like camera and lenses.* It is the season when mosquito-borne diseases are rampant withstagnant puddles and blocked drains everywhere. Carry mosquitorepellents, creams or a mosquito net for night time.* It is best to carry own water, otherwise, drink only boiled water. Thesame goes for food, don't eat from just anywhere. Street food isextremely difficult to say not to, at least make sure it is covered.* Carry light synthetic clothes that will dry easily.* Floaters and sandals are the best options in terms of footwear.Inputs from Aloke Bajpai, CEO at ixigo, travel search engine:* Having street food during the rainy season can be very unhygienic.Carry sachets of herbal teas and packaged food. Also, don't drinkwater from unsealed bottles or the regular running tap.* Always carry a first-aid box in case of an emergency. The probabil-ity of catching cold and falling sick during the rainy season is morethan during any other time of the year.* If planning to visit a new destination, always know how you can gethelp if stranded - the intensity of rain that the region receives, andemergency contact information of the local authorities. It is advisableto make reservations beforehand to ensure a safe journey.* Chances of a power outage during a rainy day are more as com-pared to normal days. To keep phone active, it's important to carry apower bank all the time.* As it might get dark early, keep a flashlight. Don't rely on the phone'sflashlight.* It's good to carry some extra plastic bags to keep electronics safe. They can also be used to keep wet clothes and food items.

HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULDDRINK GREEN TEABEIJING, (IANS) Your love for green tea may help improve memory aswell as insulin resistance in the brain caused by a high-fat and high-fructose diet, researchers say. A study, involving mice, showed that greentea contains an ingredient known as EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate),the most abundant catechin and biologically active component. This component has the potential to alleviate insulin resistance - a precur-sor to type II diabetes - that is induced by obesity as well as improve age-related cognitive decline, accompanied by peripheral inflammation, theresearchers said. "Green tea is the second most consumed beverage inthe world after water, and is grown in at least 30 countries," said Xuebo Liufrom the Northwest A&F University in Yangling, China. "The ancienthabit of drinking green tea may be a more acceptable alternative to medi-cine when it comes to combatting obesity, insulin resistance, and memoryimpairment," Liu added. Previous research pointed to the potential ofEGCG to treat a variety of human diseases such as bone marrow disor-ders, reducing the kidney toxicity and damage caused by cancer drug, aswell as some heart conditions. For the study, published in The FASEBJournal, the team divided three-month-old male mice into three groupsbased on diet: 1) a control group fed with a standard diet 2) a group fed withan high-fat and high-fructose (HFFD) diet and 3) a group fed with an HFFDdiet and 2 grams of EGCG per liter of drinking water. The researchersmonitored the mice for 16 weeks and found that those fed with HFFD hada higher final body weight than the control mice, and a significantly higherfinal body weight than the HFFD+EGCG mice.

CHILDHOOD TRAUMAS MAY UPADDICTIONS, DISORDER RISK

London, Aug 10 (IANS) Young boyswho suffered traumas, includingphysical abuse or witnessing vio-lence at home, are more likely to havegambling addictions and disordersin adulthood, according to a re-search. The findings showed that chil-dren with probable pathological gam-bling problems - a common disorder- are more likely to suffer injuries, marital difficulties, homelessness, money problems and criminality asadults."This suggests that disordered gam-bling does not occur on its own, butthat it is perhaps symptomatic of othersocial, behavioural and psychologi-cal problems of some individuals,"said Amanda Roberts, forensic psy-chologist at the University of Lincoln,UK. "We have found that among men, disordered gambling remains

uniquely associated with trauma andlife stressors in childhood and adult-hood after adjusting for alcohol anddrug dependence," Roberts added. For the study, published in the jour-nal Addictive Behaviours, the teamexamined responses in a survey ofmore than 3,000 men on a variety oflife factors, and found that just over aquarter who had probable pathologi-cal gambling problems had wit-nessed violence in the home as achild. While 10 per cent reported be-ing physically abused in childhood, seven per cent said they had suffereda life-threatening injury. Nearly 23 percent of men were identified as prob-lem gamblers - displaying a lessharmful relationship with gamblingthan their pathological peers - alsorepor ted witnessing violence athome, while the rate for non-prob-

lem gamblers was just 8 per cent.Similarly, men who reported person-ally suffering physical abuse in child-hood, with 10 per cent of pathologi-cal gamblers reporting being the vic-tim of violence, versus nine per centfor problem gamblers and four percent for non-problem gamblers. "Gen-eral experiences of stressful lifeevents" such as job loss orhomelessness in adulthood are notassociated with "the same extremepsychological responses", suggest-ing that associations with traumaticevents at an early age might increasevulnerability to developing gamblingproblems, Roberts noted. The studyhighlight a need for gambling treat-ment services to include routinescreening for traumatic life events orsubstance abuse, so that treatmentscan be better tailored.

OF AUGUST BIRTHDAYS & MONEY TRANSFERSAround the world, more people are celebrating their

bir thdays this month than any other months of theyear. In fact, 19.5% of the population in India and

11.6% of China have their bir thdays in August! To thosewho grew up in Canada, this is the time of the year wherecake and candy comes to mind. However, in other par ts ofthe world, many countries have their own long standingbir thday traditions that don't involve a sugar rush. For the Chinese, many customs often involve auspicioussymbols, from the colour red to the lucky number 8; andbir thdays are no exception. In China, a bowl of longevitynoodles is a staple dish for this special occasion. Thelonger the noodle, the longer the life-span. It is said thenoodle strands should be eaten bit by bit - without bitinginto it, to ensure a long and fruitful life. In India, youngmen celebrate their friend's bir thdays by taking him by thearms and legs, and "bumping" him up into the air withgentle kicks. Similar to bir thday punches. The number of"bumps" given equals the age of the person in years plusone "for luck".Jamaicans celebrate their loved ones' bir thdays with atradition known as "flouring" Instead of baking a bir thdaycake with flour, the flour in thrown in the face of thebir thday boy or girl. For those who live abroad, it is of tendifficult knowing that you're missing out on the celebrationback home. As an alternative, many immigrants opt forsending home bir thday money as their way of joining inthe festivity. In fact, money transfers sent during specialoccasions make up a large por tion of Canada's globalremittance. In 2015 alone, Canadians have sent approxi-mately $24 billion abroad (source: cidpnsi.ca/remittances-explorer).The challenge for senders, however, is deciding which

service provider to trust when sending the funds. Theassociated costs are of different types - fees, exchangerates, etc., and ease and speed of transfers also vary bybanks/financial institutions. It's impor tant to do a little bitof the homework upfront and know the right questions toask before choosing who to go with.Six Things to Consider When You Want to Send MoneyHome1. Is there a transfer fee?Cer tain companies charge separate transfer fees, whichcan make up a large percentage of the money you aresending, depending on the amount you are sending.2. What's the most convenient method of sending moneyhome? Some companies make transferring money a challenging &unpleasant process. You may be required to be physicallypresent, and also be asked to fill in plenty of paperworkevery time you try to make a transaction. Then there areothers that offer the convenience of making internationaltransfers straight from your smar tphones.3. What is the foreign exchange rate being utilized tocalculate how much your intended recipient is going to bereceiving?Watch out for the fine print. Is the exchange rate beingcalculated at the time when you are sending or when itarrives there? Sometimes a day or two can make a bigdifference.4. How long is it going to take for your remittance to getto your intended recipient?Much like a courier service, you can pay for next day or itcan take a number of days. A premium should be attributedto companies that get your money within a day.5. What are the limits on how much you can send?

Sometimes the amount you need to get to your family canbe larger than the supplier limit.6. Can you trust the company that you are sending themoney with?Check the financial viability of the transfer service provider- is it a stable organization that you are relying on? After all,it is money that you are sending. The CIBC Global Money Transfer AdvantageThese are the questions that CIBC hoped to address when itcreated the Global Money Transfer Program for theircustomers. With the changing face of Canada, the bankrepeatedly kept getting requests from customers for anaffordable and safe way to send money to their nativecountries. In response to the request and understanding thecustomer pain points, CIBC decided there would be zerotransfer fee for CIBC customers, while offering competitiveexchange rates. Between these two factors alone, custom-ers are of ten saving a significant amount of money. In allcases, the foreign exchange rate is calculated at the timethe money is sent. In most cases, money arrives within aday of transmission. No premium is charged for this quickservice. Also in response to customer needs, CIBC has oneof the highest daily transfer amounts available, i.e.,$9,999.99 to India and over other 40 countries ($6000 toChina). Smart underwear may help prevent back pain

CHANGE YOUR TOOTHBRUSH,FLOSS TEETH REGULARLY FORHEALTHY TEETHNEW DELHI, (IANS) During monsoon, a lot of dental issuescan come up and effect dental health. It is impor tant tochange your toothbrush, replace it often and floss your teethregularly, say exper ts. Gunita Singh, Director at Dentem,an or thodontic clinic, and Tanvir Singh, senior or thodontistat Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, have listed out precautions thatcan help:* Change your toothbrush, replace it often with a new oneas it can help maintain oral hygiene.* Regular flossing is recommended. The suggested flosslength is 18 inches per flossing session. With a day-by-dayflossing plan, that means approximately 45 feet of floss amonth. Stock up to abstain from running out.* Proper healthy diet enriched with Vitamin C and calciumalong with seasonal foods and vegetables is essential. Thenutritionally beneficial fruits and vegetables in monsoonare apples, pears, strawberries, curd and oats.* Regular dental check-ups are a must for every individual. It not only keeps your teeth in a healthy state but will alsoindicate any early stage problem.* During this season, we also tend to enjoy hot beverageslike coffee and tea, which contain caffeine that leads todental decay and staining. Try to have less of both.

CAN MODERATE DRINKINGKEEP DEMENTIA AT BAY?NEW YORK, (IANS) While drinking alcohol in excess isassociated with many health hazards, new research hasfound that older adults who consume alcohol moderatelyon a regular basis are more likely to live to the age of 85without dementia or other cognitive impairments than non-drinkers. "This study is unique because we consideredmen and women's cognitive health at late age and foundthat alcohol consumption is not only associated with re-duced mor tality, but with greater chances of remainingcognitively healthy into older age," said senior author Linda McEvoy,Associate Professor at University of California San Diego School ofMedicine. In particular, the findings published in the Journal ofAlzheimer's Disease showed that among men and women 85 andolder, individuals who consumed "moderate to heavy" amounts ofalcohol five to seven days a week were twice as likely to be cognitivelyhealthy than non-drinkers. Cognitive health was assessed every fouryears over the course of the 29-year study, using a standard dementiascreening test known as the Mini Mental State Examination. Drinkingwas categorised as moderate, heavy or excessive using gender andage-specific guidelines established by the National Insti-tute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, par t of US NationalInstitutes of Health (NIH).

NEW YORK, (IANS) Engineers in the US have designed a smar t,mechanised undergarment that may help prevent lower back pain byreducing muscle fatigue. While solutions for back pain are aplenty, most of them have at least one of three problems - they are unproven, unworkable or just plain unattractive. "People are often trying to capi-talise on a huge societal problem with devices that are unproven orunviable," said co-investigator Aaron Yang from Vanderbilt UniversityMedical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, US."This smar t clothing concept is different. I see a lot of health careworkers or other professionals with jobs that require standing or lean-ing for long periods. Smar t clothing may help offload some of thoseforces and reduce muscle fatigue," Yang said. The device, unveiled atthe Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics in Brisbane,Australia, consists of two fabric sections, made of nylon canvas,Lycra, polyester and other materials, for the chest and legs. The sections are connected by sturdy straps across the middle back, with natural rubber pieces at the lower back and glutes. The device isdesigned so that users engage it only when they need it. A simpledouble tap to the shir t engages the straps. When the task is done, another double tap releases the straps so the user can sit down, andthe device feels and behaves like normal clothes. The device alsocan be controlled by an app that the team created - users tap theirphones to engage the smar t clothing wirelessly via Bluetooth.

In experiments, the par ticipants tested the device leaning forwardand lifting 11-kg and 25-kg weights while holding their position at 30,60 and 90 degrees. Using motion capture, force plates and electromyo-graphy, the team demonstrated that the device reduced activity in the lowerback extensor muscles by an average of 15 to 45 per cent for each task.

HOSPITAL INFECTIONS MAYRAISE STROKE RISK, SAYS STUDY

80 PERTOSA DRIVE, UNIT 12,BRAMPTON ONT., L6X 5E9

LONDON, (IANS) Infections acquired from hospital, par ticularly bypeople admitted for pneumonia or sepsis, may increase by six-foldtheir risk of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, a study hasclaimed. The findings showed that cardiovascular risk was morethan doubled in years two and three after the infection and persistedfor at least five years. "Severe infections in adulthood are associatedwith a contemporaneously raised risk of cardiovascular disease,"said Scott Montgomery, Professor at the Orebro University in Swe-den. "Our results indicate that the risk of cardiovascular disease, including coronary hear t disease and stroke, increased after hospitaladmission for sepsis or pneumonia," added Cecilia Bergh, an affili-ated researcher at the varsity. For the study, published in the Euro-pean Journal of Preventive Cardiology, the team included 2,36,739men at around age 18 years, who were followed from late adoles-cence into middle age. The results showed that infection was associ-ated with a 6.33-fold raised risk of cardiovascular disease during thefirst year after the infection. In the second and third years following aninfection, cardiovascular disease risk remained raised by 2.47 and

2.12 times. Risk decreased with time but was still raised for at leastfive years after the infection by nearly two-fold (hazard ratio 1.87).Similar findings were observed for coronary hear t disease, stroke, and fatal cardiovascular disease. "The risk remained notably raised for threeyears after infection and was still nearly two-fold after five years," Bergh said.

Buy right nursing gearduring breastfeeding phaseNEW DELHI, (IANS) During the breastfeeding phase, it isbest for a woman's health to keep a check on the bra shewears. Go for one with a broader under-band and opt forcushioned shoulder straps that are not too stretchy, sug-gest exper ts. Neha Kant, founder of Clovia, and NirajJawanjal, founder and Chief Ideator at India Intimate Fash-ion Week, have listed tips to make the life of a new mothereasier:* Most women ignore or don't take seriously the fact thattheir entire body undergoes a massive change acrossvarious phases of their pregnancy and they have to chooseinner wear that suits the new demands of their body. Rightfrom clothing to your bras - everything needs enoughbreathing space. So, accept the change and change theold stock.* 80 per cent of the breast weight is suppor ted by theunder-band. Choose a bra with a broad under-band.* Buy a nursing bra which has stretchy fabric on the topof the cup. This will allow for movement in the breastwhich is required at this stage.* Invest in a bra that has four to six hooks and eyes on theback band. This will allow you to tighten the back bandpost-bir th as your rib cage contracts.* Maternity bras and nursing bras tend to have similardesign features. Realistically, you can buy nursing brasto wear as maternity bras during the final stages of preg-nancy, and then use them as intended to nurse after thebaby is born.* For sound health and good hygiene, get at least two orthree bras for yourself. Make sure to wash them aftereach use.* Maternity bras with wide straps provide tremendoussupport to growing breasts. For added comfor t, womencan opt for cushioned shoulder straps that are not toostretchy.* Invest in pregnancy panties that provide maximum soft-ness, fitness and stretch, adapting to the changes thattake place during this period in areas like tummy andbuttocks.* Buy a nightwear with zip closures to make feeding easyand also those made in super-soft fabrics for full comfor t.* We all need firm suppor t when we are low. Simulta-neously, a nourishing bra should offer perfect support tolactating mothers from the lowermost side even if the cupremains open.* Say no to tight bras. Tight bras during your breast-feed-ing months lead to infections, tumours and would alsorestrict the flow of milk while feeding. Tight bras alsolead to uncomfortable situations to the nourishing motherand may cause breathing issues too. Let the bra offer youease, comfort and suppor t during these months.

Eating chocolatemay provide relieffrom bowel diseaseNEW YORK, (IANS) Consumingprotein rich foods such asnuts, eggs, seeds, beans, poultry, yogur t, cheese andeven chocolates may foster amore tolerant and lessinflammatory gut environ-ment, which could mean relieffor people living with abdomi-nal pain and diarrhoea ofinflammatory bowel disease,a study has said. These fooditems contain an appreciableamounts of tryptophan - anamino acid used in the buildupof proteins - which when fedon mice led to the develop-ment of immune cells thatfoster a tolerant gut, the studysaid. The findings indicated that aprotein rich diet triggers theappearance of immune cellsin Lactobacillus reuteri (L.reuteri) - a bacterium thatnormally lives in the gut, andtogether these promote amore tolerant, less inflamma-tory gut immune system. "Weestablished a link betweenone bacterial species -Lactobacillus reuteri - that isa normal par t of the gutmicrobiome, and developmentof a population of cells thatpromote tolerance," saidMarco Colonna, the Rober tRock Belliveau, Professor atthe Washington UniversitySchool of Medicine inSt.Louis."The more tryptophan themice had in their diet, themore of these immune cellsthey had," Belliveau added. For the study, published in thejournal Science, the teamexamined mice that had livedunder sterile conditions sincebir th and was germ-free.When L. reuteri was intro-duced to these mice, the immunecells arose. Further, when tryptophanwas doubled in the mice's feed, thenumber of such cells rose by about50 per cent. Humans have the sametolerance-promoting cells as mice, and have L. reuteri in the gastrointesti-nal tracts."The development of these cellsis probably something we want toencourage since these cellscontrol inflammation on the innersurface of the intestines,"explained Luisa Cervantes-Barragan, Postdoctoralresearcher from the varsity."High levels of tryptophan inthe presence of L. reuteri mayinduce expansion of thispopulation," Cervantes-Barragan said.
