• Ensuring the requirements of Codes, Standards and Specifications are met.

• Preparation of Welding Procedure Specification and its Qualification Record

(WPS & PQR)

• Some specific material combination WPS in my career are P1 to P8, P1 to P4, P4 to

P4, P7 to P7, P7 to P4, P8 to P8, P8 to P4, P43 to P43, P5A to P5A etc…• Witnessing the preparation of test plates and destructive tests and verifying

compliance with appropriate standards and specifications.

• Welder Qualification according to the production and Code requirements.

• Maintaining Welder Continuity according to ASME Sec IX and re-qualifying

welders whenever required

• Preparation of Weld Map for pressure vessels and piping.

• Assistance and agreement with the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s)• Regular check-up for instruments calibration validity and maintaining its records.

• Raw materials to service provider approval through evaluating their quality system

and products quality.

• Evaluation and preparation of inspection reports for the employer/client.

Shop floor Control

• Pre weld inspection of fit-up and weld preparations are in accordance with

specifications.

• Surveillance during welding to verify compliance with specified procedures including

any preheat, inter-pass temperature control and post heat requirements.

• Display of Welding procedure in production shop for easy guidance to welders.

• Welders Classification according to their skills and ability and display.

• Train welders and conducting seminars to welders regarding quality requirements.

• Ensuring that use of qualified welders in production.

• Solve weld repairs by assisting welder and do analysis to avoid occurrence in

future.

Welding Consumables

• Computing Welding Consumables calculation for jobs.

• Verification of correctness of welding consumables (as per ASME Sec II part C),

backing temperature monitoring and consumables minimum stock.

PWHT

• Verification of Post Weld Heat Treatment, temperature- time chart that PWHT

has been conducted in accordance with specification requirements.

• After PWHT, visual inspection and dimensional check of completed weldment

against specification requirements and drawings.

NDT

• Preparing NDT procedure according to customer requirement

• Organizing NDT in production shop.

• Reviewing of RT films
