ABSTRACT
This document presents the activities that received FutureFarmers of America's (FFA's) Model of Innovation awards in 2001. The bookletbegins with an overview of the FFA National Chapter Award program and a listof the 2001 Models of Innovation Winners. The next three sections profileaward-winning activities in the following areas of the three divisions forwhich awards are given: (I) student development (leadership, healthylifestyle, supervised agricultural experience, scholarship, and agriculturalcareer skills); (2) chapter development (chapter recruitment, finance, publicrelations, leadership, and support groups); and (3) community development(economics, environment, human resources, citizenship, and agriculturalawareness) . The award-winning middle grade chapter innovator is profiledseparately. The objectives of an FFA program of activities (POA) is presentedalong with guidelines for developing an effective POA and preparing anational chapter award application. The following are among the membershiprecruitment tips listed in the booklet's final section: (1) ensure thatpotential students are aware of the opportunities available in FFA; (2) makeFFA an integral part of the agricultural program; (3) encourage timidstudents to become involved; (3) carefully match experienced students withother students in a mentoring relationship for conducting FFA activities; and(4) let potential students see firsthand the close relationships that developbetween agriculture students and their teachers.
