Rotary’s new grant model proves its value in the pilot and is ready to launch on 1 July• The Future Vision pilot districts have thoroughly tested the new grant model and

provided valuable feedback for the Trustees and staff. In a recent survey, 87% of pilot districts said that the new model is excellent, very good, or good.

• After receiving intensive training for the new grant model this year, 96% of nonpilot district leaders reported that they support the new model.

• In April, the Future Vision Plan won a silver Edison Award in the Lifestyle and Social Impact Category for its innovative funding model.

• Learn more about the new grant model at www.rotary.org/grants.

A new face is coming to Rotary.org in August • Based on feedback from Rotarians worldwide,

we decided to completely redesign our website to better serve both members and the general public.

• Our usability testing convinced us of the need to develop two sites — one that is targeted for the public and the other that will enable members to easily do their Rotary business and get the information that’s important to them.

• The member site will deliver customized content based on your role, interests, and location, and enable you to connect to other members and exchange ideas, greatly enriching your experience on Rotary.org.

• Some new features will help you to find project partners and generate financial, in-kind, and volunteer contributions for your projects.

Initiative to strengthen Rotary will help us tell our Rotary stories and live our brand more effectively• From interviews with thousands of

Rotarians and non-Rotarians, we learned that the general public had heard of Rotary, but was woefully unaware of all the good work our clubs are doing worldwide. In fact, the perception gap of Rotary between members and nonmembers was three times that of most nonprofits.

• So last year, we began developing strategies for strengthening our brand so that we can more effectively tell the world who we are and what we do.

• We’ll be rolling out tools and resources in the coming months to help you tell your Rotary story in a way that will clearly demonstrate Rotary’s impact in your community and in the world at large.

Rotarians continue to give generously to The Rotary Foundation• Contributions to the Annual Fund

are currently running about 4% over last year. If you haven’t made your contribution for 2012-13, you still have a few days left to help us set a new all-time record.

• We formally inducted 28 new members to the Arch C. Klumph Society this year. On our country induction days, we welcomed six generous supporters from Canada, six from Japan, and four from Taiwan.

• Our Endowment Fund (formerly called the Permanent Fund) will provide more than $10 million to support The Rotary Foundation in 2013-14. Let us know if you want to create a lasting legacy to our Foundation by contributing to the Endowment Fund.

Rotary Club Central can be your key to better planning and greater efficiency • This new tool provides access to all

club data, eliminates many paper forms, and allows clubs to track their progress.

• As of 7 June, more than 13,000 clubs had begun using Rotary Club Central to set goals, document details of over 5,000 projects, and promote continuity from one year to the next.

Spotlight your club’s efforts on Rotary ShowcaseSince we launched Rotary Showcase a year ago, Rotarians have recorded the impact of about 2,300 projects in more than 120 countries. Visit Showcase to learn about the good work Rotarians are doing and share your success stories with the Rotary family and others.

Regional membership plans offer localized strategiesBecause one size doesn’t fit all in Rotary, we’ve worked with Rotarians on developing membership plans for the following regions: Asia; Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands; Europe; Latin America; Middle East and Africa; and USA, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands.

Rotary inaugurates new conference centerIn May, President Tanaka, Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, and I cut the ribbon on our new conference center. Located on the first floor of One Rotary Center in Evanston, Illinois, USA, the center will provide state-of-the-art facilities and interpretation technology for Rotary meetings and for rental by community groups.

RI Secretariat undertakes a major reorganization• We have initiated a major

restructuring of staff designed to provide better service to our members.

• We’re eliminating duplication of efforts, reducing silos, and improving communications so that staff can work together more efficiently.

• As always, our mission remains to provide support and resources to Rotary clubs worldwide. Let us know how we’re doing.

Growing Rotary’s membership Recognizing that a global

“one size fits all” approach to membership is not as effective as local efforts, the RI Board allocated funds to create Regional Membership Plans. The initiative was developed to empower regions to identify and employ strategies that work best in their areas. RI directors lead 22 regional teams, collaborating with Rotary coordinators, Rotary public image coordinators, regional Rotary Foundation coordinators, and Rotarians at all levels to increase membership.
