1. Introduction
Swami Vivekananda, a youth icon, who revived the humanitarian values, cultural heritage,
religious beliefs, had worked hard and lived the example of Universal brotherhood. He
showed the path of inclusive growth and dharma to the youth of India. Under the inspiring
light of Swami Vivekanand's ideas, VIGYAN study circle organised “Youth Festival-2016”
on his 153rd birth anniversary.
The festival aimed to generate leadership traits in present-day youth to help them evolve as
worthful human resource for nation building. This endeavour could be achieved only when
people know their country and have proud of its rich heritage. Hence, the theme given to the
festival is "Bharat ko Jaano, Bharat ko Maano". However, the festival consisted of various
cultural, literary and Indian sports activities but at the core it provided an open platform to the
young minds of MNIT where every enlightened soul, committed to Indian philosophy,
culture and value system may share his or her own ideas.
The festival is benefitted by the experiences and enlightened thoughts of social activists,
writers, prolific orators like Sh. K.N. Govindacharya, Sh Prafull Ketkar and Sh Shyam

It has been said by various Great Personalities like Maharishi Arvind and Swami
Vivekanand that India is Immortal. Poet Iqbal has greatly said “यनूान मिस्र रोिाां मिट गए सब जहाां से, कुछ बात है कक हस्ती मिटती नह ां हिार ”. So an effort was made through the discussion to find
out that nectar element of this great tradition which kept our culture alive. It was a great
discussion and essence came out of this mind storming session was its ever new and eternally
ancient dharma which is strictly not religion. Our value system and traditions where Dharma
was considered as duties and obligations is the nectar element. Far beyond tolerance it rises
up to the level of mutual respect and universal brotherhood.

7. Conclusion
It was great event organised, hopefully, first time in the college on the birth anniversary of a
great saint and sanyasi Swami Vivekanand. The idea behind the event was to make youth
aware about the ideas of swamiji. He agitated the young minds with his strong calls “Arise,
Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached”. It showed the relevance of the swamiji’s
teachings even after 100 years of his sayings.
Taking inspiration from such a great soul, in this 4 day event more than 600 students
participated in 20 different kinds of programmes and more than 70 volunteers worked
relentlessly to make this event a success. There was a good combination of cultural activities
like "Vrihannala" a dance competetion and brain storming sessions like "strength behind the
immortality of Bharat". It was tried to do most of the things for a good cause.
As a prize, timeless gifts - books authored by great visionary leaders like APJ Kalam
and Swami Vivekanand and philosophers and management gurus like Robin Sharma,
Rajeev Malhotra and Devdutt Pattnaik were distributed.
As a bouquet, in spite of plucked flowers, small beautiful flower pots were given to
the dignitaries on their welcome which was appreciated by everyone.
25% of the amount collected by registration will be sent to the prime minister Relief
fund.
and many more.
Further, it is planned to do regular discussions and likewise activities to widen the horizons of
young minds. Next year, it is planned to celebrate the festival in more effective way and
increased participation. The support got from various departments and people is highly
appreciated. We are thankful to The Director, The Registrar, The Dean, Student Welfare,
Training and Placement Cell and all others involved directly or indirectly for cooperating us
time to time.
