Report on Japanese Activities Hidenori Shinoda JIRA&JAHIS 3/23/2007 Taipei JIRA s DICOM Committee Translation of Herman s Book DICOM Basics Translation of DICOM Standards PS3.1 A JAHIS workgroup for endoscopic exam found additional attributes needed for exam workflows. For example, there are no links to order for pathological exams of tissue which is obtained during the exams and its specimen in current standard. IHE-J held Japanese connectathon IHE-J connectathon was held during the week of Feb. 5 th. 36 companies and 72 systems participated to the event. We adopted HL7 ver.2.5 for ordering, responding, and other messages. Connectathon 2007 In Japan Some news Japanese government will issue a new version of guideline for securely managing healthcare information systems. That will write about what IS people in healthcare institutions should do to run the systems securely. Currently, most of Japanese hospitals have their networks which are isolated from the internet. There are demands that hospitals would collaborate with neighboring hospitals and clinics through the internet. The guideline will say about how people should protect their information against threats. Some news: to be continued IHE-J is now incorporated. Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare will support IHE-J financially. Some plans of IHE-J To develop workflows for various services in hospitals To try to develop other domains in addition to current ones. Nursing service is one of candidates.
