REPORT ON A GEOLOGICAL SURVEY
MATHESON CLAIMS

SUMMARY
Four claims straddling the southern end of the Warden Township- Milligan Township boundary were staked by Amax Potash Limited, in December 1978. Four additional claims adjoining this group to the north and west were staked by Amax Potash Limited in July 1979.
On July, 1979, a geological-prospecting survey was carried out over the claim group in order to determine the local geology, to locate and sample any exposed surface mineralization and to search for evidence of previous work on the property.
Although an o'ld post was located, no evidence of previous work on the property was observed.
INTRODUCTION
The present Amax claim group covers a set of AEM Input anomalies detected by Amax Potash Limited in the fall of 1978.
On July 16th, a geological-prospecting survey was carried out over the eight (8) claims recorded in the name of Amax Potash Limited.
This report describes the methods and results of the geological- prospecting survey.
LOCATION AND ACCESS
The claim group is located in the Larder Lake Mining Division within that part of the Warden Township described as the:
SE \ a nd N h o f the S part of Lot l, Con. lS h of the N part of Lot l, Con.l
and within that part of Milligan Township described as the:W h o f the S part of Lot 12, Con. lSW \ o f the N part of Lot 12, Con. lWarden and Milligan Townships are located about 25 km ENE of
Matheson, Ontario.

Access to the property is easiest by proceeding north from Highway 101 along the Hedman Mine road for approximately 5 km. From here a narrow sand road leads east and north beyond Munro Lake to the claim group. This road is approximately seven (7) km long.
TOPOGRAPHY AND RESOURCES
The area occupied by the claims forms part of the Munro Esker. Low sand hills are covered by jack pine and poplar. Claim L-536927 is bisected by a gully leading to a group of three small kettle lakes just east of the claim group.
PREVIOUS WORK
Observed in field:
claim. One old claim post was located. No work was recorded on this
No other evidence of previous work was located.
Assessment Files:
A search of the assessment revealed no previous activity inthe area.
SURVLY METHOD
Traverses were made at 125m intervals by B. Murdoch and T. Makuch in a north-south direction over the property. All roads, old and new claim posts and outcrops were located and plotted. Air photos flown by Amax Potash Limited (1:31680) were used for control while mapping. (Air photos # CAS 78177 - 124, 125).

GENERAL GEOLOGY
Bedrock underlying this area of Warden and Milligan Townships is of Archean age and forms part of the Abitibi greenstone belt.
Detailed geology in these townships is not known due to very limited outcrop exposure.
The oldest Precambrian rocks are sediments and volcanics. The volcanics comprise a thick sequence of lava flows, intruded by layered rills and discordant gabbroic bodies, and intercalated with thin cherty or tuffaceous beds.
Dykes of lamprophyre cut all of the above rocks. Two sets of diabase dykes are the youngest rocks in the area.
PROPERTY GEOLOGY
One outcrop was located near the #3 post of claim 536929. It consisted of massive andesite or basalt, having a dull grey-buff weathered surface, and a dark grey aphanitic fresh surface.
Magnetic data indicates the property is underlain by easterly trending greenstone.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
There is no evidence that this anomaly has been previously drilled. Outcrop is virtually non-existant on the claim group, therefore, nothing can be said concerning the nature of the conductor. This property warrants further work.
