    REPORT OF THE STUDENT REGENT ON THE 1289th BOR MEETING

    On the Renaming of the UP Diliman CBA to the Virata School of Business

    The issue was yet again discussed under the matters arising from the minutes. Staff Regent Ramirez

    presented the sectoral regents position paper alongside the signed petition and a personal letter from

    the President of the UPAA in America.

    Majority of the members voted to reopen the decision and will be subjected to further discussion. As a

    result, the renaming has been held in abeyance until the concerns are addressed.

    Until such time, the Student Regent would like to call on the UP community to remain involved in this

    issue. The office is open for dialogues and discussions from all stakeholders involved.

    Appointment of New Deans and Directors

    Six (6) nominees for deanship and one (1) for the position of Institue director were confirmed by the

    BOR:

    UP Diliman

    Dr. Carlo Arcilla Director for NIGS, College of Science (until October 2013 only)

    Dr. Aura Matias Dean for the College of Engineering

    Dr. Miguela Mena Dean for the Asian Institute of Tourism

    Dr. Jose Buenconsejo Dean for the College of Music

    Dr. Michael Tan Dean for the College of Social Science and Philosophy

    Dr. Maria Fe Mendoza Dean for the National College of Public Administration Governance

    For the deanship of the Virata School of Business, the Board decided that the search process be

    extended and expanded.

    On Prof. Raquizas Tenure

    The Board has already approved the tenure of Prof. Ma. Victoria Raquizas. It was evident from all

    documents submitted that she has met all the requirements for tenure. The office would like to

    congratulate Prof. Raquiza and wish her well on becoming a tenured faculty member.
