iNTR ODUCTION
The interest in personal and family hi story has grown so rap idly that we
are endeavoring to special ize in this department in our l ibrary . We now
have one o f the best genealogical col lections in the South and to i t resort
dai ly people from al l over the country , di l igently searching for fami ly
record s and mil i tary data to enable them to secure admittance to one o f the
patriotic soci eties o f our country .
Besides the genealogica l material in the State Library , the North Carol ina
Historical Commission , which is housed in the same bui ld ing , has many
original marriage bonds , deeds , wi l ls , etc .
The material in both departments i s always avai lable to the researchers .
However , the staff Of both are too l imited to permit them to engage in pr i
vate researches . We are always glad to refer our patrons to some competent
genea l ogi st who wil l glad ly do the work for them .
Our Biennial Report for 1 926- 1 928 had a complete bibl iography of all
general genealogy , s tate , county and family histories , military rosters , news
paper cl ippings and magazine articles to be found in the State Library . Inthe fol lowing pages wi l l be found al l the add itions to this mater ia l whichhave been made since 1928 .
