Report of Cultural Committee 2016-2017

Cultural Committee of VPM's R.Z. Shah College for the academic year 2016-17 started its work from the beginning of academic session. Some of the activities conducted areas follows.

1) Fresher’s Party: The Principal, staff and students of second and third year welcomed the first-year students of our college by arranging a party on July 23, with lots of music and dance activities. First year students were also given ample opportunity to exhibit their talent. Earlier several rounds were conducted to select talented students and on the fresher’s party day Kaushal Shetty and Shrinidhi Naik both from FY BMS were crowned as Mr. Fresher and Miss Fresher respectively.

2) Youth Festival: University of Mumbai conducted 49th YOUTH FESTIVAL for its affiliated colleges and 60 students of VPM’s RZ Shah college participated at Zonal level. (i) The winners of the Zonal level competition held at Vaze College, Mulund on August 9th , 2017 are as follows:

(ii) The winner at Zonal level held at IES Motilal college on August 11, 2016 was Romya Gowda, SY BAF, consolation prize for Rangoli (iii) The Finals for Youth Festival were conducted at VV Bhavan,Churchgate in the month of August, 2016 and September 2016, Consolation prizes were awarded to Abhishek Shastry SY BA for Light Vocal Song, and Ankitha Kalekar, SYBMM for Best Acting.

3)FEVER PITCH: A two-day inter-collegiate cultural fest Fever Pitch- GLOW IN THE

DARK was organized by our V.PM’s R.Z Shah Degree college of Arts Science and

Commerce was inaugurated at the college Auditorium on 15 December 2016 by our

Principal Dr. Madhusudan Raje. Fever Pitch hosted participants from almost all colleges

in the region in its decennial year since its inception.

Following the formal Inauguration, various events such as Solo Singing, Solo Dance, Tattoo making, Logo Quiz, Lan games, Photography, Mehndi and Treasure Hunt were

held at different venues simultaneously with healthy registered participants for all the

above events.

On the Second day events such as Group dance, Fashion Show, Short Film,

Photography, Mini Militia, Web designing, Nail Art and Rock Band were scheduled.

Veteran experts in their respective fields like Mr.AnandMenon, Mrs. Anita Srikant, Miss

Sonal Chavan, Mr. Sanidh Poojary, Mr Suresh Gokhale, Mr. Vinayak Mhatre, Mr.

Lokesh Gowda, Mr Saumitra Vichare, Mrs Kumud, Mrs Manali , Mr. Krishna Shetty. Ms

Drashya Shetty had obliged our request for gracing our cultural extravaganza and giving

valuable inputs and suggestions to the student participants.

The Valedictory function was presided over by Our Principal. Based on the winning

score in different events and participation V.P. M’s R Z Shah college won the Best

College Trophy. In his closing remarks, Dr. Raje congratulated the students for

bringing name and fame for the Institute and also the members of the Management,

Vice-Principals, Teaching & Non-teaching Staff members and the students for the

laudable efforts in organizing this two day mega events. He expressed hopes of

achieving many more such laurels to the Institute in the future.

4) Annual Day : Annual day was celebrated on 4th February, 2017 . The program was presided by Dr. P. M. Kamath, Mr Sudhendra Kulkarni was present as the Chief Guest. Winners of the Cultural Programs were felicitated along with Academics, Sports, NSS and Extension. All winners of Youth Festival Finals were awarded trophies and winners of Youth Festival Zonal Round and Participants were issued certificates. Sachin Gasti, TYBMS was the winners of the Special Achievement award for showcasing his outstanding dancing skills.

Sachin Gasti, TYBMS and Sayali Patil, FY BMS who won the Mr VPM and Miss VPM respectively in the Personality Contest were felicitated on this day. Cultural Programes were conducted to entertain the audiences after the prize distribution ceremony.

5) Celebration of Special Days: To promote cultural awareness and a spirit

of enjoyment various special days such as Mix Match Day, Saree/Tie Day, Chocolate Day, Corporate Day, Traditional Day were celebrated.

Cultural events with patriotic messages were also held during

Independence and Republic Day occasions.

6) Intercollegiate Events: Students of our college participated and excelled in below mentioned intercollegiate events conducted by various colleges in Mumbai and Thane
