REPORT GENERATOR

OBJECTIVE Report Generator allows users to execute dynamic reports from the information stored in the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform. Reports can include high-resolution images and intuitive charts to simplify a user’s understanding of complex product data.

OVERVIEWReport Generator supports several formats and delivery mechanisms. The product’s flexible architecture allows it to be customized or extended to meet unique customer needs. These reports support custom layouts that can be generated in a variety of formats, including HTML, PDF, XML, and Microsoft Excel.

Report templates are supported so they may be included in other products or to facilitate creating new reports. It also supports the use of style sheets, which may be shared across reports, allowing companies to create reports with a polished professional look.

A queuing mechanism supports distributing report generating processes across multiple servers.

Users can invoke the product through its user interface, via a URL, or from triggered events such as lifecycle promotions. Pre-processing supports collecting information prior to running a report, along with post-processing support for adding a watermark or performing other functions.

CAPABILITIES

Defining ReportsCustomization and Specialization Administrator is required to define reports for Report Generator. These reports extend the capabilities of other products, while applying professional formatting and high-resolution graphics. Users can define report templates for reuse as standard report elements in new reports. Defined style sheets for use in multiple reports help create custom report layouts that deliver a high-quality presentation. The ability to incorporate high-resolution images further demonstrates the professional quality output.

Running ReportsReports can be setup to execute through a menu or toolbar button. By defining pre- and post-processing of reports, end users can enter parameters that provide the necessary data for customizing and formatting any output. Report access can be controlled through filters and standard groups available. Report distribution can be online with HTML or PDF. It can also be vaulted into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform or sent via e-mail, FTP or JMS.

PerformanceSystem performance is managed by configured “queue agents” that distribute the processing of reports across multiple servers.
