Objectives:1-to learn how to join two pieces by gas welding2-to lean the process of gas welding in a sequence

3-to learn the safety equipment for welding including aprons and gogglesIntroduction:

Welding is a process to melt two material and form joint and the melting done by heat or pressure and one type of welding is gas welding which is joining two or more material by supplying combustible gas. Also gas welding continue several equipment such as compressed gas cylinders, Gas regulators, Hoses, and Welding torch. There are two method of gas welding Forehand welding which is A method of welding during which the welding rod is moved ahead of the torch and Backhand Welding which is A method of welding during which the torch is moved ahead of the welding rod . Also there are different gas welding flame first, Neutral flame where the quantities of Oxygen and Acetylene is the same and welding usually done by this kind of flame. Second, Oxidizing flame where the Oxygen is more and usually this kind of flame make harsh sounding. Third, Carburizing flame where the Acetylene is more and this flame has a lower temperature than a neutral flame. There are many differences between Oxy-acetylene gas welding and Oxygen gas cutting including. First, Oxygen Cylinders painted green while Acetylene Cylinder is red. Second, the valve of Oxygen Cylinders has right hand threads while Acetylene Cylinder is left hand. Third Oxygen Cylinders has a Capacity 16.8 MPa while Acetylene Unstable at high pressure.

Gas welding procedure:

1-befor start the welding process we wear aprons and goggles for safety reasons.

2-we check the Oxygen and Acetylene Cylinders supplies which will produce the flame 3-we hold the Welding torch to start welding the two pieces together.

4-we wild the two pieces by melting the material we want to join.

Answer the equation: a-the type of welding is gas welding.

b- Forehand Weldingc- Neutral flamed-butt jointe-mild steel

f-mild steel coating with cupper

list of safety items:1- aprons which protect us from the flame.

2- Goggles to protect the eyes

3- Safety Shoes to protect the leg

Conclusion:

in this lab we learn Important type of welding which is gas welding . gas welding use heat to join two material by using different position plate such as lap , vertical , overhead and tee fillet. Also we learn the skill to do the gas welding with the help of the technician who work in the lab. Instructor Comments:
