7 th September 2014 @ GTU Chandkheda Campus GUJARAT TECHNOLGICAL UNIVERSITY Report – National Day Celebration MALAYSIA, UGANDA, MEXICO AND BRAZIL Centre for Global Business Studies ************************************************************************************** On 7 th September 2014, GTU celebrated the National Days of MALAYSIA, UGANDA, MEXICO AND BRAZIL. The Global Country Study Report (GCSR) is a two-semester project in the curriculum of GTU’s Global MBA program. Since the last three years, students of GTU MBA institutes are studying various aspects like, culture, political environment, economy and demographics of various countries of the world. They identify the bilateral trade opportunity of Gujarat and India with the country of study and propose a detailed business plan to establish or improve the business in a specific industry. During the academic year 2014-15 students of GTU MBA institutes are studying more than 110 countries. GTU has started the unique activity of celebrating National/Independence Days of the countries, being studied under the GCSR program. On 7th September 2014, the Centre for Global Business Studies (CGBS) of GTU organized the 11 th such program. GTU has celebrated National/Independence days of 22 countries from August 2013 to September 2014. The Celebration began with lamp lighting by all the guests followed by speech of various speakers. As a part of the National Day Celebration, all the participants and guests recited the national anthems of India, Malaysia, Uganda, Mexico and Brazil.

Report – National Day Celebration MALAYSIA, UGANDA, MEXICO AND BRAZIL

************************************************************************************** On 7th September 2014, GTU celebrated the National Days of MALAYSIA, UGANDA, MEXICO AND BRAZIL. Dr. Sarika Srivastava, Assistant Professor- GTU acted as a Master of Ceremony by introducing other speakers to the audience. Mrs. Shakuntala Aggarwal and Mr. Keyur Darji welcomed the esteemed guests by giving them flower bouquet.

Dignitaries who adorned the event with their valuable experience and views were Ms. Bhagyesh Soneji (CMD, Ameda Pharma Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad & Chairperson- Gujarat Council ASSOCHAM), Mr. Sunil Modi (Member, Board of Advisors for GCSR), Ms. Abha Maryada Banerjee- India’s First Internationally acclaimed Women Motivational Speaker, Dr. Akshai Aggarwal (Vice Chancellor, GTU), Mrs. Shakuntala Aggarwal and Dr. G.P. Vadodaria, I/C Registrar, GTU.

To celebrate the national days of MALAYSIA, UGANDA, MEXICO AND BRAZIL faculty members and students of L. J. Institute of Management Studies, Ahmedabad who are studying “Malaysia”, Noble College of Engineering & Technology, Junagarh who are studying “Uganda”, Smt. Shantaben Haribhai Gajera MBA Mahila College, Amreli who are studying “Mexico” and Som Lalit Institute of Management who are studying “Brazil” participated in the event at GTU.

Dr. G.P. Vadodaria, I/C Registrar, GTU welcomed the audience and appreciated the unique activity of National Day Celebration organized by Centre for Global Business Studies and suggested participants to increase the involvement in Global Country Study Report (GCSR).

Dr. Akshai Aggarwal (Vice Chancellor, GTU) shared the objectives behind celebrating National Days and the efforts by GTU to make the GCSR program effective. He said, “India is dealing with almost all the countries of the world so it becomes important for our students to study the business relations with those countries and to interact with the industries. Make more efforts to be recognized in the market and distinguish yourself from other MBA

students. The whole market is open to you so you have to be competent enough to grab the available opportunities. The sky is the limit. Nobody gives the salary for charity unless you prove yourself worthy for that organization.”

Ms. Bhagyesh Soneji -CMD, Ameda Pharma Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad & Chairperson- Gujarat Council ASSOCHAM asked the audiences, “Do we work for knowledge or luxury?” Let’s try to become ‘Chanakaya’ and work for knowledge. There is always a way to move from Goddess “Saraswati” to Goddess “Laxmi” or you can earn money if you have knowledge. Asset is your work; your work will speak itself. She also said that GDP of USA is more than the combined GDP of BRICS countries. Ms. Soneji told students to feel the energy of Sun and create awareness and knowledge in the society. She asked the participants to have the respect for own country, language, culture and products.

Ms. Abha Maryada Banerjee- India’s First Internationally acclaimed Women Motivational Speaker also participated in the National day celebration and inspired the audience with her motivational talk. She asked the students to realize hidden potential which everybody is having. She also shared her journey of success with the students and inspired them to be in first 500 students across Gujarat.

Mr. Sunil Modi, Advisor- GCSR presented information about four countries. He discussed about major Industries of both the countries and the opportunity for Indian Industries to expand their businesses. He appreciated the vision of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Akshai Aggarwal. Mr. Modi also shared his journey of achieving success and how he moved towards “Saraswati’ by “Laxmi”.

He also explained the importance of GCSR in the Management Studies. He gave a new meaning to GCSR as Getting Continuous Safe and Sustainable Return. He told the students that GCSR can be a key for their success if they study and prepare the project with suggested guidelines properly

Mr. Parth Kotecha, Trustee of Noble group of Institutions, Junagarh also shared about his passion for education, teachers and students.

Dr. Kaushal Bhatt, Assistant Professor- GTU proposed the vote of thanks to the speakers on behalf of GTU for gracing the National day celebration and sharing their experiences with the participants and faculty members. He quoted the famous quote of Benjamin Franklin – “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember but involve me and I will learn.”

In the Technical session, the students from all four institutes have presented the information regarding the political, economic, social, and cultural environment of the respective countries of study. The students of L J institute of Management Studies have walked in the hall with Flag- March. They celebrated the event by cake cutting ceremony.

The students also presented the current trade relation of India with country of study as well as the companies dealing with these four countries. They highlighted some industries where there is a good scope of business relations from India and Gujarat.

Mr. Sunil Modi and Mr. Keyur Darji discussed about the GCSR Handbook and solved GCSR Viva related queries of students.

At the end of the celebration, Centre for Global Business Studies- Gujarat Technological University presented awards to all four institutes for their active participation in the National day celebration of Malaysia, Uganda, Mexico and Brazil.

All the participants were delighted to attend the unique GCSR activity organized by Centre for Global Business Studies (CGBS), Gujarat Technological University.
