1. Introduction

1.1 Purpose of Document

The document highlights the complete REPLICATION PROCESS in VIEWWISE.

ViewWise 5.6 Replication Module is a feature for copying and distributing data (from database) andimages from one server to another and synchronizing data between servers for consistency. Usingreplication, you can replicate data and images from remote server to home server. It also allows you toenhance image retrieval speed by fetching images locally from the remote server.

Benefits of Replication:-

1. Availability of data when and where it is needed.2. Allowing multiple sites to keep copies of the same data and images, (ie, you can still work on the

data from remote server, even if the home server is down and vice versa).3. Reducing the network traffic by fetching images from local server with the minimal utilisation of

bandwidth.4. Can be used for server clustering.

Scenario:-

1. Database or Indices - At Central Storage Only2. Images stored Locally at every Branch during the Day 3. Images (from Branches) to be replicated or sent to Head Office / Central Storage at a Scheduled

Time (after working hours)4. The Replication utility should replicate or send

NEW CREATED FILES MODIFIED FILES (Pages added or Annotated or deleted - i.e. any change

related to pages or indices.)5. If the User at Head office searches for documents he should get it locally from the Central Server

6. If the User at Branch Office searches for document he should get locally from his own Branchserver7. If the Image from remote server has to be replicated its then "picked" up from remote storage and

copied to a specific FOLDER in the CENTRAL Server.

8. Software also checks for MODIFIED DATE and replicates all the modified files from remoteserver. Here new pages could have been added or annotated.

9. Basically a new room will be created in the central server for each branch - i.e. CHENNAI inMUMBAI / DELHI in MUMBAI ..........so images from CHENNAI ROOM (local branch officestorage) would be replicated to the ROOM - "CHENNAI in MUMBAI".

10. User then has to search in specific rooms depending on his own location. ie. the CHENNAI Userwould search in CHENNAI ROOM whereas the MUMBAI USER will search in "CHENNAI inMUMBAI" room.

11.After Replication there would be two set of indices (at Central Server, one for Chennai Local andone for Chennai In Mumbai) and two sets of Images (One at Central Server and another at

branch)

3. Select the path of images (Path where the remote images needs to be replicated

on the centra l server)

4. Give the IP Address of the Remote Site.

5. Give the IP Address of the Remote Site.

6. Select the Room Name (Room that needs to be repl icated, one exist ing in the

2.4 Manual Replication

Here,

192.168.0.77 is the IP Ad dress o f ho me site,

VWREM_MAIN is the room name wh ich i s created in the centra l server

C:\COMPUTHINK_IMGS\CHENNAI is the loc ation wh ere the remote imagesneeds to b e repl icated from the remote server

192.168.000.010 is the IP Addr ess o f rem ote site,

VWREM_LOCAL is the roo m name wh ich is created in the remote server ,

E:\VWSYNCHENNAI is the p ath wh ere the images are stored local ly .
