Follow these instructions to replace an HN9000 satellite modem with a new one. In these instructions, old modem refers to the satellite modem that needs to be replaced, and new modem refers to the replacement modem.

You have 10 days from the date the new modem is shipped to you to replace the old modem. This is because Hughes Customer Care authorizes and enables the replacement over the satellite network, and this authorization expires after 10 days.

Track the return packageYou can track the return shipment online at if you recorded the tracking number.

Ship the packageTo ship the equipment, take the box to any staffed FedEx location or call FedEx at 800-463-3339 to request a free pickup at your home or business.

If you call to request a pickup, a recording asks what you are calling about. Say “package return.” Be prepared to give the first 7 digits of the FedEx tracking number. (See Figure 5 for the tracking number location.)

You can find FedEx locations online at www.fedex.com/us/. The following are general instructions. See the web site for specific instructions.

To find a FedEx location at www.fedex.com/us/:

1. Click Find Locations.

2. Enter your address.

3. Select the type of location you want to search for. Staffed FedEx locations include those designated as:

• FedEx staffed

• FedEx Office (formerly FedEx Kinko’s)

• FedEx Authorized Ship Center locations

Do not take the box to a drop-off-only or self-service location.

Check return shipment statusYou can check the status of your return shipment online at http://rmastatus.hughesnet.com. You will need your site account number (SAN) or RMA number. The RMA number appears on the return label, as shown in Figure 5.

If you need assistance

● RMA number from the FedEx return label.

● Your site account number (SAN) from your HughesNet bill or statement.

● Serial number of the new modem. (See Figure 4.)

If you have a question or need assistance, call HughesNet Customer Care, toll-free, at 1-866-347-3292. Please read these instructions before you call.

If you cannot complete the replacement procedure, it may be that the replacement was not authorized or that the 10-day authorization period has expired.

If you call for assistance, tell the Customer Care representative that you are installing an HN9000 replacement modem and the problem you are having (for example, I cannot open an Internet web page.) Please have the following information ready:

If you have followed these instructions and you cannot open an Internet web page or you cannot open the System Control Center, call Customer Care for assistance. See the next section for details.

Pack the old modem to return it to Hughes

Pack the old modem, power supply, and cables in thethat the new modem was shipped in.

Tightly seal the box with packaging tape. (Use only packaging tape.)

Place the FedEx return label (to Hughes Network Systems) on the box so it covers the old label with your address on it.

To avoid being charged for unreturned equipment, return the old modem to Hughes within 20 days from the date you received the new modem. Please return your old modem, old power supply, and any cables you are not using.
