Mr. Subhendu Kumar Bal,
President, Institute of Actuaries of India
Mr. Subhendu Kumar Bal is the Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer of SBI Life Insurance Company. He
has an industry experience of more than 28 years in several life insurance companies.
He has worked in SBI Life for over 13 years. Prior to joining SBI Life, he has worked for three other
private insurance companies. He has started his career with the Life Insurance Corporation of India and
then moved to the private life insurance sector.
Mr. Bal possesses all actuarial functions and some non-actuarial functions of a life insurance business. He
has participated in several international seminars and discussions on actuaries and life insurance.
He is a Fellow member of Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI) and a post graduate in Statistics from
Calcutta University.
He is the President of Institute of Actuaries of India.
He served as Honorary Secretary and Chairpersons of Advisory group of Examination committee and
Advisory group of HR, Admin and Finance Committee of Institute of Actuaries of India. He was an
examiner for the actuarial papers of Institute of Actuaries of India for several years.
He was a Visiting Faculty of a Management Institute, teaching courses on Life & Health, Group and Risk
Insurance Management.
He has been awarded “Best Actuary – Life Insurance” at the ‘3rd Insurance Alertss Conclave and
Excellence Awards -2019’

A qualified Health actuary with around 15 yrs. of domain experience in Pricing, Valuation –
Life & Pension, ESG and Experience analysis for life and Health. During my last 8 years
with Swiss Re, Lead the UK valuation support – a 22 member team which supported
quarterly reporting of liabilities on UGAAP, Statutory and EVM (BE basis). There were
some interesting portfolios of Income Protection and Longevity business which made a good
learning experience during this time. Moving out of comfort zone, took another challenge in
value chain viz pricing. This was a new team set-up to support on South East Asia, India and
Australian market with variety of risks and product types covering Mortality, Critical Illness
and Income Protection. The team did grow and mature substantially during this time and
thanks for exposure to product design support, Reinsurance Pricing and Experience Studies
for different product risks. Interested more to explore on new pricing techniques and product
solutions for different markets. In my free time enjoy carom and nature walk.

Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Corporate Vice President - Actuarial, WNS
Neeraj is graduated as BE (Honors) from IIT Roorkee and Associate Actuary from Institute ofActuaries of India. He has 20+ years of experience in Insurance Industry, Consulting andOutsourcing.
He has set up multiple shared actuarial services centres for Life, Non life and Pension areassupporting US, UK and Europe markets. He has led largest offshore actuarial teams both inLife and Pension area in his current and previous assignments.
He has led several assignments crafting feasibility, defining the entry strategy and businessplanning for several foreign and domestic companies entering insurance sector in India.
Seconded to UK with one of the big 4 consulting firm and worked with UK Associates onadvising life insurance companies for Solvency II preparedness and compliance; carried outindustry-wide Solvency II surveys.
Has been involved in performing several due-diligence for merger and acquisition dealswhich involved calculation of embedded value, and carrying out sensitivities for various riskparameters
Ms. Saigeeta Bhargava, Director and Lead Actuary, PWC

Saigeeta is a director with PwC India and has about 12 years of experience in
insurance consulting and life insurance. She holds a MSc in Financial Mathematics
from London School of Economics and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of
Actuaries of India.
As the lead actuary, Saigeeta has build the team and drives project across
disciplines and diverse areas including IFRS 17, product development, due
diligence, modelling, statutory valuation, EV implementation, asset projection
and US GAAP. She is involved with the review and update of regulation for
Bangladesh ranging from product, solvency and ALM.
Mr. Chinnaraja C Pandian, Secretary, Advisory Group on Banking, Finance & Investments

Chinnaraja C - secretary of Advisory Group on Banking Finance & Investment, is a qualified Fellow Actuary and Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary, CQF, FRM and PRM holder with more than 15 years of experience in Quantitative Risk management. Contributed in the construction of the volatility index, IndiaVIX and development of volatility & Interest rate derivatives during his stint with National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE). Active contributor in Actuary Magazine covering article on copula, volatility and Interest Rate models. Currently interested and doing research in the area of Artificial intelligence and its application in the banking domain. Honored with Academic Excellence Awards in Finance & Investment by Hannover Re, RSA Insurance Group, Gen Re, JardineLloyd Thompson, Principal Financial Group and IAI

Sanket leads Milliman’s life insurance consulting practice in India and is based in Mumbai. He has been in the life insurance industry for more than 25 years. He has been providing consulting support to a number of life insurance companies in India over the past 19 years, working on a variety of assignments covering Embedded / appraisal valuations, M&As, due diligence and IPOs; acting as peer reviewer and Independent Actuary on WPCs, product development / pricing support, economic capital reviews and ALM, market entry and business planning as well as training support. Sanket has also worked with the AIG group in Singapore and in India for over six years. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India
