CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK CONSISTS OF RELOCATION OF
ESO TESTING AREA FROM MISSION SUPPORT BUILDING #262
TO THE GSK BUILDING, #204 AND WORK RELATED TO THE
FLOOR PLAN CHANGES IN BOTH BUILDINGS, AS WELL AS A
DUCTWORK/ ATTIC VENTILATION REPAIR TO THE GSK
BUILDING AT TRACEN CAPE MAY. REFER TO THE COMPLETE
SET OF CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOR ALL WORK TO BE
PERFORMED.
2. ALL FEATURES SHOWN ARE EXISTING, UNLESS OTHERWISE
NOTED AS "NEW," "CONSTRUCTION," OR "PROVIDE AND
INSTALL."
3. ALL MATERIALS FOR THE PROJECT SHALL BE FURNISHED BY
CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE NEW.
4. REFER TO COMPLETE SET OF CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND
ARCHITECTURAL PLANS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND
CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS NOT SHOWN HERE.
5. CONSTRUCTION DETAILS AND SHOP DRAWINGS UTILIZED BY
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY
THE CONTRACTING OFFICER'S REPRESENTATIVE (COR) AND
CONTRACTING OFFICER.
6. ANY VARIATION FROM THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS MUST BE
AUTHORIZED BY THE CONTRACTING OFFICER.
7. ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN A WORKMAN LIKE
MANNER IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE CODES,
ORDNANCES, AND MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS
AND STANDARDS.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY, IN THE FIELD, ALL
CONDITIONS AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND SHALL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR FIELD MEASUREMENTS FOR ALL NEW
CONSTRUCTION OR RETROFITS.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL
SHORRING, UNDERPINNING, AND STRUCTURAL STABILITY
DURING THE WORK.
10. POLLUTANTS SUCH AS FUELS, LUBRICANTS, BITUMENS, RAW
SEWAGE, WASH WATER OR WASTE FROM CONCRETE MIXING
OPERATIONS, AND OTHER HARMFUL MATERIALS SHALL NOT
BE DISCHARGED INTO OR NEAR RIVERS, STREAMS, STORM
SEWER SYSTEMS AND IMPOUNDMENTS, OR INTO NATURAL
OR MAN-MADE CHANNELS LEADING THERETO.
11. ALL APPLICABLE REGULATIONS OF FISH AND WILDLIFE
AGENCIES AND STATUTES RELATING TO THE PREVENTION
AND ABATEMENT OF POLLUTION SHALL BE COMPLIED WITHIN
THE PERFORMANCE CONTRACT.
12. IN THE EVENT CONDITIONS AT THE SITE ARE NOTABLY
DIFFERENT AT THE TIME OF CONSTRUCTION THAN THE
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS PROVIDED, THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL NOTIFY THE COR AND CONTRACTING OFFICER.

3. DEMOLISH ALL WALL PARTITIONS, INCLUDING FRAMING, WALL BASE, DOORS, AND DOOR
FRAMES, BETWEEN THE ESO TESTING AREA, THE ESO OFFICE, AND THE VETERAN'S OFFICE.
4. DEMOLISH DOOR, INCLUDING FRAME, BETWEEN ESO TESTING AREA AND GENERAL MS
HALLWAY.
5. CUT AND DEMOLISH DOOR OPENING IN CMU WALL, INCLUDING WALL TILING AND BASE,
BETWEEN ESO TESTING AREA AND GENERAL MS HALLWAY.
6. CUT AND DEMOLISH WINDOW OPENING IN CMU WALL, INCLUDING WALL TILING, BETWEEN ESO
TESTING AREA AND GENERAL MS HALLWAY.
7. CUT OPENING ON CONCRETE CEILING AND ROOF SLABS IN M.S. BUILDING NEW HEAD VENTS.
8. REMOVE AND SALVAGE EXTERIOR WINDOW OF GSK OPEN OFFICE SPACE.
9. CUT AND DEMOLISH EXTERIOR DOOR OPENING IN CMU WALL, INCLUDING EXTERIOR PLASTER
AND INTERIOR WALL FURRING AND PANELING, ON GSK OPEN OFFICE SPACE.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
1. REMOVE AND SALVAGE ALL FLOOR CARPET TILES FROM ALL AREAS TO BE RENOVATED, EXCEPT
WHERE NOTED.
2. BUILD OUT FEMALE HEAD 002 AND MALE HEAD 001 IN THE PREVIOUS ESO TESTING AREA OF THE

3. BUILD OUT GALLERY 003 TO ACCESS NEW HEADS 001 & 002 IN THE PREVIOUS ESO TESTING
AREA OF THE MS BUILDING. FURNISH & INSTALL NEW ENTRYWAY FRAME TO REPLACE
DEMOLISHED DOOR AND FRAME. REFER TO SHEET A-4 FOR ARCHITECTURAL LAYOUT.
4. FURNISH & INSTALL NEW DOOR AND INTERIOR WINDOW, INCLUDING FRAMES, TILE EDGE, AND
SILL IN NEW OPENINGS BETWEEN ESO TESTING AREA AND GENERAL MS HALLWAY. REFER TO
SHEET A-4 & A-5 FOR ARCHITECTURAL LAYOUT.
5. FURNISH & INSTALL NEW EXTERIOR DOOR INCLUDING DOOR FRAME, WALL EDGE INCLUDING
EXTERIOR PLASTER AND INTERIOR WALL FURRING AND PANELING, AND SALVAGED EXTERIOR
WINDOW INCLUDING WINDOW FRAME ON GSK OPEN OFFICE SPACE TO MATCH EXISTING

GENERAL NOTES:

3. COAST GUARD PERSONNEL WILL PROGRAM THE CONTRACTOR PROVIDED NEW ADDRESSABLE DEVICES AND
THE EXISTING FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL. CONTRACTOR SHALL TEST ALL NEW DEVICES AND A SAMPLING
OF THE EXISTING DEVICES. ALL TESTING SHALL BE WITNESSED BY THE CONTRACTING OFFICER'S
REPRESENTATIVE.
4. FIRE ALARM CABLES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ONE CONTINUOUS LENGTH (NO SPLICES) BETWEEN TERMINATION
POINTS. FIRE ALARM CIRCUITS SHALL NOT BE T-TAPPED. INITIATION CIRCUITS SHALL USE #16 AWG
CONDUCTORS AND NOTIFICATION CIRCUITS SHALL USE #14 AWG CONDUCTORS.
5. CURRENTLY, THERE ARE NO TROUBLE CONDITIONS BEING REPORTED ON THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANELS.
CONTRACTOR SHALL TROUBLESHOOT AND CORRECT ANY TROUBLE CONDITIONS THAT APPEAR DURING
CONSTRUCTION.
6. REFER TO REFLECTED CEILING PLAN FOR EXACT LOCATION OF DETECTORS.

ABANDONED CABLE AND PROVIDE STAINLESS STEEL BLANK FACEPLATE ON EXISTING BOX.
3. MOVE ONE EXISTING HORN / STROBE TO LOCATION SHOWN AND SURFACE MOUNT ON EXISTING BLOCK WALL.
DEMOLISH ABANDONED CABLE AND PROVIDE STAINLESS STEEL BLANK FACEPLATE ON EXISTING BOX.

6. PROVIDE TWO NEW STROBES AND FLUSH MOUNT ON EXISTING WALL.
7. PROVIDE NEW FIRE ALARM RATED MC CABLE AND BOXES. FOR SURFACE MOUNTED HORN / STROBE, PROVIDE

8. LABEL EACH NEW SMOKE DETECTOR WITH THE CORRECT ADDRESS (IE 1-19). LABEL EACH NEW STROBE WITH
THE AUDIO / VISUAL ZONE NUMBER (IE AV4). INSTALL LABELS SUCH THAT THEY ARE VISIBLE WITH THE DEVICES
INSTALLED. INSTALL ADDRESS LABELS ON BASE PLATES. INSTALL AV ZONE NUMBERS DIRECTLY ON STROBES.
9. TEST NEW DEVICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS.
