House of R epresentatives  Room 304A Raleigh, NC 27603 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: August 20, 2014 Overview of Representative Mike Hager’s Second Term RALEIGH    On August 20, 2014, the North Carolina General Assembly has officially adjourned for the remainder of the year. With the past two legislative sessions behind us, Representative Mike Hager has delivered on his promises. Taking a look back at his second term with the North Carolina House of Representatives, Rep. Hager has assisted over 100 constituent concerns, creating more jobs and lowering the unemployment rate for House District 112. When Rep. Hager first filed for office in 201 0 the unemployment rate in Rutherford County was 18.7%, it is now 8.7% for the month of June 2014. The district has also become home to new companies such as Richelieu Legwear International Inc., Sunrise USA, Trelleborg Coated Systems, and Team Air Inc. With such companies and the expansion of existing companies, the district has seen over 550 jobs created since January 2013; a $36 million investment over the next four years. In Rep. Hager ’s second term, the North Carolina General Assembly has passed legislation to advance North Carolina. Some bills to mention include: - Tax Reform- lowered personal and corporate income tax, making NC more attractive for job- creation - Voter ID- with 72% of North Carolinians support - Regulatory Reform- will get rid of red tape that chokes off economic growth and raises p rices - Amend Various Firearms Laws- protecting the Second Amendment rights of North Carolinians With the legislation passed over the 2013-14 term it has spiked North Carolina to being ranked #5 for  business by CNBC, has created over 64,500 new jobs just in 2013, and just two years ago North Carolina had the 5 th  worst unemployment in the United States but now it is under the national average. Serving as the House Majority Whip and Chairman of the Public Utilities and Energy House Committee has been a great opportunity for Rep. Hager. It truly has been an amazing experience servi ng the citizens in House District 112 and working alongside fellow legislators in the North Carolina General Assembly,” said Rep. Hager. “If re-elected, I will continue to keep my promise to my constituents to keep moving the unemployment number down and creating more jobs in our District and in North Carolina.” Rep. Hager was the lead sponsor on eleven bills that are now law. Those bills include: House Bill 120: Building Codes, House Bill 119: Natural Gas Rate Adjustment Mechanism, House Bill 664: Cell Tower Deployment Act, House Bill 710: Water Utility Recovery, House Bill 1052: Adjust The Utility Regulatory Fee and House Bill 476: Rewrite Underground Damage Prevention Act. ###
