What is the Flight Deck? The Flight Deck is a collaborative arts space and performance venue in Downtown Oakland that features a theater, lobby/gallery, rehearsal studio, and co-working office. The Flight Deck hosts performances of all types, gallery shows, rehearsals, classes for youth and adults, and a membership program. The Flight Deck was created and is managed by host company Ragged Wing Ensemble, and is home to several other arts organizations and individual artists. The Flight Deck has hosted thousands of performances, rehearsals, classes, meetings and special events.

Theater + Studio Rentals

The Rehearsal Studio is a 810 square foot room can hold up to 49 people, has lots of natural light and a private restroom. With high ceilings and bamboo floors, the space is ideal for dance and physical theater rehearsals as well as workshops and classes. The Rehearsal Studio and its restroom are fully wheelchair accessible.

Our 1750 square foot black box theater comes fully equipped with theatrical lighting, projection, and audio systems. In its standard configuration, it seats 99, and the room can hold up to 130. Proscenium, thrust or alley orientations are all possible with modular adjustable risers. In our Class A rated assembly space, your company will have everything it needs for a professional performance or presentation. Skylights with optional blackout covers make natural light available for daytime workshops or events. The Theater is fully wheelchair accessible.

Let us host your upcoming quarterly meeting or Holiday party. Our theater is nothing if not versatile, transforming easily into a banquet hall, intimate dinner party, or large meeting room for up to 130 guests. We’ve also partnered with local catering companies and event planners who will make sure your event goes off without a hitch.

Artists from The Flight Deck’s theater company, Ragged Wing Ensemble, can lead and host your offsite activities and explore team dynamics using movement, storytelling, and visual art.
