GREEN

GO

PAMPAS(L384)

You wouldnt like me when I’m angry.., but I wouldnt quite go as green as Steve Milwards 1960 Pampas Green Street Warrior. Steve has only had the car for around 3 years and in that short time he’s transformed what was a fairly cool Resto-Cal bug that was slammed in the weeds, into something very rude indeed. As a racing member of the SAS Rennwagens the car is seen regularly supporting both club and racemeets, turning heads and very respectable times.Steve’s hometown of Stone in Staffordshire didnt know what hit them when the new stroker motor was fired up for the first time ‘it was properly mental’ says steve, ‘first run up the street made my neighbour’s TV switch off’.

‘Properly Mental’ is also a good way to describe the way the engine revs, its got a lot more in it that the low 14’s its currently running. Next Season should see the numbers

start to tumble. First job for Steve when the car came home was to jack up the rear end for that trademark nose down stance, off came the bumpers to be replaced with stainless ‘t bars’ and the standard solids were dumped in favour of powdercoated 356 steelies. With a few changes in rubber steve eventually settled on 145/65’s on the front and 185/70’s on the rear helping stick the car to the road. With only basic seat belts, steve opted for a Willans harness and a Box helmet for protection on the track. The car was already fitted with a front disc set up manufactured by AC Industries all married to a beam lowered using Sway-a-way adjusters & dropped spindles. The stability of the rear end is taken care of by a pair of AVO coilovers and a traction bar to keep the motor firmly planted where the sun dont shine on take off. Steve bought the 1914cc longblock just run in and
