Here you will find information in regards to renewing your license or what we now refer to as a Merchant Mariner Credential. Below you will find a list of Mariners classifications with basic renewalinformation. Each link will take you to the Code of Federal Regulations which willinform you of the requirements.

MASTER or MATE (PILOT) of TOWING – (10.209) Completion of oneof the above requirements, AND Completion of practical demonstrationbefore a designated examiner, OR Submit proof of ongoing participation intraining and drills.

STCW—(A-I/11) You must provide 360 days of seagoing service gainedwithin the last 5 years, performing functions appropriate to the certificateheld to demonstrate continued competency. If you cannot meet thisrequirement, you must complete the requirements of Basic Safety Training(BST) which includes approved courses in Personal Survival Techniques, FirePrevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Safety andSocial Responsibility OR provide an approved BST refresher course.

RADIO OFFICERS – (10.209) Present a currently valid license as 1st or2nd class radiotelegraph operator issued by the Federal CommunicationCommission.

TANKERMAN – (13.120) A. 2 transfers within the last 5 years OR anapproved Tankerman course, AND 360 days of service during the past 5years, OR Pass a comprehensive, open-book exam, OR Complete anapproved refresher course, OR 3 years of closely relatedservice/employment.

MMC W/OUT QUALIFIED RATINGS – (10.227) There are noprofessional requirements for renewal of an entry level rating MMD.

RADAR OBSERVER – (15.815) Must complete the appropriate approvedcourse and present us this certificate.

We highly recommended that you use Pay.Gov - Credit Card Payment Form inorder to pay for your credential. It is fast, safe, and reliable method of payment.See Title 46 CFR 10.219 for additional information.
