    Renewable energies in Granada

In Granada, on the 1st of June, 2009, a thermal solar plant wasopened. It is considered the biggest in the world.

The project, called Andasol 1 and Andasol 2, is situated in the

Guadix plateau at an altitude of 1,000 meters. About 100 peoplework there.

The plant supplies 180,000 homes and also prevents theemission of 157,000 tonnes of CO2 annually into theatmosphere. The installation occupies 200 hectares, and it has

a 624 energy receptor and 200,000 solar mirrors.

    Renewable energies in Andaluca

Andaluca is the European leader in thermoelectric plants and it hasover 131 megawatts in operation and 50 on test period.

The experimental wind power plant of Tarifa, was the first wind parkestablished in Spain, as an initiative of the Ministry of Industry andEnergy. The location and nature of the terrain in which it is locatedare excellent. The area of Tarifa is a great location for its windyconditions.

Tarifa is one of the strategic locations for wind energy in Spain as itis located in an area where wind gusts may reach 90-100 km/ h.

Differences between renewableenergies in Norway and Spain

Norway is the penultimate in Europe in regard to renewable energy,as shown by statistics compiled by the International Energy Agency(IEA).

Only Turkey is worse than Norway in reference to implementalternative energy sources like wind, biomass, sun, waves and tides.

Norway is a major exporter of oil and gas, and have not takenadvantage of such a nature reserve winds. There are other countriesin Europe with much less potential they have already grown a lot in

wind energy, such as Spain, for example.

Differences between renewableenergies in Norway and Spain

Spain is among the top five nations investing in renewable energy inthe international PV market and was the biggest growth worldwide in2007, so that in Spain are two of the three largest photovoltaicplants in the world.

Stresses the importance of wind energy, having covered during theyear 2009 to 13.8% of electricity demand, making it the third countryin the world in terms of installed capacity, behind Germany and theU.S.

In 2005 Spain became the first country in the world to require theinstallation of solar panels in new buildings and second in the worldto require the installation of solar hot water systems.

    At home

They dont care about saving energy, forexample, they leave the lights on all daylong.

In Spain we can use sun energy because

there is a lot of sun, and we can also usewind energy. We are trying to use morerenewables energies each day.

    The streets

The streets look cleaner here than inSpain.

In Norwegian villages, the houses arescattered, so the people have to use thecar more often.

    At School

In Norwegian schools there are differentcontainers for waste (paper, glass, plastic). We have them in Spain, and alot of families recycle, though we shouldpay more attention at school.

The daily use of laptops in Norwegianschools implies a paper saving.
