In April, the ranks of the unemployed who have been out of work for 99 weeks or more increased by 21,000 to a record 1,920,000.

That equates to 14.5% of all unemployed.

Generational Differences

This is the first time in American history that we have had four different generations working side-by-side in the workplace.

Research indicates that people communicate based on their generational backgrounds. Each generation has distinct attitudes, behaviors, expectations, habits and motivational buttons.

Identify Business Workforce Needs

•The survey collection period ran from March 14 through March 25, 2011.

•395 employers responded to the survey.

•1,216 jobs will be open within the next year.

Identify skill sets needed for open positions.

Answer:26% “basic” 50.4% “intermediate” 23.6% “advanced”
