Electric vehicles have specific features. We therefore recommend that you readthese instructions describing your elec-tric vehicle carefully.

Batteries

Your electric vehicle has two types ofbattery: – a traction battery; – a 12 volt battery.

“58 volt” traction batteryThis battery stores the energy nec-essary to operate the motor in yourelectric vehicle. As with any battery, itdischarges after use, and must be reg-ularly recharged.

You do not have to wait until the tractionbattery hits the reserve level in order torecharge it.

Using a domestic socket, it takes ap-proximately 3.5 hours to complete a fullcharge.Your vehicle range will depend on thecharge level of the traction battery, andalso on your driving style. Please refer to information on “Vehiclerange: recommendations” in Section 2.

12 volt battery

The second battery on your vehicle isa 12V battery: this supplies the energyrequired to operate vehicle equipment(lights, washer/wipers, etc).

The 12 volt battery is charged either at

the same time as charging the tractionbattery or while the ignition is switchedon. Please see the information under“12 volt battery” in Section 4.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE: introduction (2/4)

Special feature

This vehicle has been approvedfor the four-wheel category. It mayneed to meet special regulations re-garding the type of driving licencerequired, the type of road used, etc. Please ensure that you comply with

the legislation of your country.

The vehicle drive systemin an electric vehicle usesa direct voltage of ap-proximately 58 volts. This

system can get hot during and afterswitching off the ignition.

All interventions or modifications tothe vehicle’s electrical system (com-ponents, cables, connectors, trac-tion battery) are strictly prohibiteddue to the risks they present to yoursafety. Please contact an authoriseddealer.

Risk of fire, burns or electricshocks which may lead to seri-ous injury.

A

ELECTRIC VEHICLE: introduction (3/4)

The  A  symbol denotes the electricalelements of your vehicle which maypresent health risks.

“58 volt” electrical circuit

The electrical circuit can be recognisedby the orange cables and by the ele-ments signalled using theṑ symbol.

Noise

Electric vehicles are particularly quiet. You will not yet necessarily be used toit, and neither will other road users. Itis difficult for them to hear the vehiclewhen it is moving.

We would therefore recommend thatyou are aware of the horn and makeuse of it, especially when driving in abuilt-up area or when manoeuvring(please see the information under“Horn” in Section 1).

As the motor is silent, you will hearnoises that you are not used to hearing(aerodynamic noises, tyre noise, etc.).

When charging, the vehicle may emitnoises (fan, relays, etc).

Your electric vehicle issilent, so when you getout, always check that thehandbrake is engaged and

switch off the ignition.

Risk of serious injury.

These are made up of:

 – a side support belt;

 – chest force limiters;

 – the driver’s airbag.

These systems are designed to act in-

dependently or together when the vehi-cle is subjected to a frontal impact.

Depending on the severity of theimpact, the system can trigger:

 – the seat belt and side support beltlocking;

 – the front airbag.

 – Have the entire restraintsystem checked followingan accident.

 – No operation whatsoeveris permitted on any part of thesystem (airbags, electronic con-

trol units, wiring) and the systemcomponents must not be reusedon any other vehicle, even if iden-tical.

 – Only qualified personnel fromour Network may work on the air-bags; otherwise the system maytrigger accidentally and causeinjury.

 – a single warning lightå on theinstrument panel.

The air bag system usespyrotechnic principles. Thisexplains why, when the airbag inflates, it will gener-

ate heat, produce smoke (this doesnot mean that a fire is about to start)

and make a noise upon detonation. In a situation where an air bag isrequired, it will inflate immediatelyand this may cause some minor, su-perficial grazing to the skin or otherproblems.

Operation

This system is only operational whenthe ignition is switched on.

If a severe frontal  impact occurs, theairbag inflates rapidly, cushioning theimpact of the driver’s head and chestagainst the steering wheel; the airbagthen deflates immediately after impactso that the vehicle can be exited with-out hindrance.

All of the warnings below are givenso that the air bag is not obstructedin any way when it is inflated andalso to prevent the risk of serious in- juries caused by items which may bedislodged when the air bag inflates.

Warnings concerning thedriver’s air bag

 – Do not modify the steer-ing wheel or the steering

wheel boss.

 – Do not cover the steering wheelboss under any circumstances.

 – Do not attach any objects (badge, logo, clock, telephone holder, etc.) to the steering wheel boss.

 – The steering wheel must not beremoved (except by qualified per-sonnel from our Network).

 – Do not sit too close to the steeringwheel when driving: sit with your

arms slightly bent (see Section 1“Adjusting your driving position”).This will allow sufficient spacefor the air bag to deploy correctlyand to be fully effective.

The air bag is designed to complement the action of the seat belt. Boththe air bags and seat belts are integral parts of the same protectionsystem. It is therefore essential to wear seat belts at all times. If seat belts

are not worn, the occupants are exposed to the risk of serious injury inthe event of an accident. It may also increase the risk of minor superficial injuriesoccurring when the air bag is deployed, although such minor injuries are alwayspossible with air bags.

The airbags are not always triggered if the vehicle overturns or in the event of arear impact, however severe. Impacts to the underside of the vehicle (such asfrom a pavement or stones, etc.) can cause this system to be triggered.

 – Any work or modification to any part of the airbag system (airbags, ECU, wiring, etc.) is prohibited (except by qualified personnel from an authorised dealer).

 – To ensure that the system is in good working order and to avoid accidental trig-gering of the system which may cause injury, only qualified Network personnelmay work on the air bag system.

 – As a safety precaution, have the air bag system checked if your vehicle hasbeen involved in an accident, or is stolen or broken into.

 – When selling or lending the vehicle, inform the user of these points and handover this driver’s handbook with the vehicle.

 – When scrapping your vehicle, contact your approved dealer for disposal of thegas generator(s).

Operating faults

This warning light 1 å will light upon the instrument panel when the igni-tion is switched on and then go out aftera few seconds.

If it does not come on when the ignitionis switched on, or if it comes on whenthe engine is running, there is a faultwith the system (airbags, etc.) in the

front seats.Contact your approved dealer as soonas possible. Your protection will be re-duced until this fault is rectified.

1All of the warnings below are given so that the air bag is not obstructed in anyway when it is inflated and also to prevent the risk of serious injuries causedby items which may be dislodged when the air bag inflates.

Carrying children

Children, and adults, must be correctlyseated and strapped in for all journeys. The children being carried in your vehi-cle are your responsibility.

A child is not a miniature adult. Children

are at risk of specific injuries as theirmuscles and bones have not yet fin-ished growing. The seat belt alonewould not provide suitable protection.Use a booster seat and ensure you useit correctly.

 A coll is ion at 30 mph(50 km/h) is the same as fall-ing a distance of 10 metres.Transporting a child without

a restraint is the equivalent of allow-ing him or her to play on a fourth-floor balcony without railings.Never travel with a child held in yourarms. In the event of an accident,

you will not be able to keep hold ofthe child, even if you yourself arewearing a seat belt.If your vehicle has been involvedin a road accident, replace thebooster seat and have the seat beltschecked.

Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stopping

the vehicle

Never leave an animal, child or adult who is not self-suffi-cient alone on your vehicle, even fora short time.

They may pose a risk of injury, suchas by starting the engine or activat-ing equipment.

Risk of serious injury.

Driver’s responsibility

Never use the storagespace as a booster seat fora child or a pet. Otherwise,

this could place your child or pet indanger, or endanger the driver, in

the event of hard braking or impact.Risk of death or serious injuries.

Use

Only a booster seat should be used. The level of protection offered by thebooster seat depends on its ability torestrain your child and on its installa-tion. Incorrect installation compromisesthe protection it offers the child in theevent of harsh braking or an impact.

Before purchasing a booster seat, check that it complies with the regula-tions for your country and that it can befitted in your vehicle. Consult an author-ised dealer to find out which boosterseats are recommended for your vehi-cle.

Before fitting a booster seat, read themanual and follow its instructions. If youexperience any difficulties during instal-lation, contact the equipment manu-facturer. Keep the instructions with thebooster seat.

Never leave a child unat-tended in the vehicle.

Check that your child isalways strapped in and that

the belt is correctly set and adjusted.

Never allow your child to stick theirhead out of the window.

Check that the child is in the correct

position for the entire journey, espe-cially if asleep.

Set a good example by always fas-tening your seat belt and teachingyour child: – to strap themselves in correctly; – to always get in and out of the car

at the kerb, away from busy traf-

fic.Do not use a second-hand childseat or one without an instructionmanual.

Check that there are no objects inthe vicinity of the child seat whichcould impede its operation.

Only a booster seat should be used.

Booster cushionsFrom 15 kg or 4 years, the child cantravel using a booster seat, which willenable the seat belt to be adaptedto suit his/her size and shape. Thebooster seat cushion must be fitted withguides to position the seat belt on thechild’s thighs rather than the stomach. It is recommended that you use a seat-

back fitted with a belt strap guide whichcan be adjusted in terms of height toposition the seat belt in the centre of theshoulder. It must never rest on the neckor on the arm.Choose a bucket type seat for optimumside protection.

Driver’s responsibility

Never use the storagespace as a booster seat fora child or a pet. Otherwise,

this could place your child or pet indanger, or endanger the driver, in

the event of hard braking or impact.Risk of death or serious injuries.

Attachment via the seat belt

The seat belt must be adjusted toensure that it is effective in the event ofharsh braking or an impact.

Ensure that the strap paths indicated bythe booster seat manufacturer are re-

spected. Always check that the seat belt is cor-rectly fastened by pulling it up, thenpulling it out fully whilst pressing on thebooster seat.

Check that the booster seat is correctlyheld by moving it from side to side andback to front: the booster seat shouldremain firmly fixed in place.

Check that the booster seat has notbeen installed at an angle.

No modifications may bemade to the componentparts of the restraint systemoriginally fitted: belts, seats

and their mountings.

The seat belt must neverbe twisted or the tensionrelieved. Never pass theshoulder strap under the

arm or behind the back.Check that the seat belt has notbeen damaged by sharp edges. If the seat belt does not operate nor-mally, it will not protect the child.

Consult an approved dealer. Do notuse this seat until the seat belt hasbeen repaired.

Do not use the booster seatif it risks loosening the seatbelt restraining it: the baseof the booster seat must not

rest on the buckle and/or catch ofthe seat belt.

Check that when installingthe booster seat in the vehi-cle, it is not at risk of comingloose from its base.

Always attach the booster seat tothe vehicle even if it is not in use sothat it does not come loose underhard braking or upon impact.

Make sure that the boosterseat or the child’s feet donot prevent the front seatfrom locking correctly. Refer

to the information on the “Front seat”in Section 1.

In real usage, the range of an electricvehicle may vary depending on severalfactors over which you have partial con-trol, which may make a considerabledifference to the vehicle range. Thesefactors are: – speed and driving style; – type of road; – electrical accessories and equip-

ment; – vehicle loading; – tyres;

Sd ad dv sy

High speeds will reduce your vehicle’srange.

A “sporty” driving style reduces yourvehicle range: opt for a “lighter” drivingstyle.

Drive at a constant speed.

Adapt your driving style to avoid ex-cessive energy consumption. Pleaserefer to the information on the “Chargemeter” in Section 2.

Anticipate traffic changes by lifting yourfoot off the accelerator pedal in order torecover energy.

An overloaded vehicle, long journeys –

 – risk of bursting or tread separa-tion.

The pressure depends on the load

and the speed of use. Adjust thepressure based on the user condi-tions.
