By using standard for CAD and metadata

1. CAD / PDM version-up in one side is transparent to other side, because exchanged format stay the same

(ISO standard)

2. More components are reusable between different converters

3. Renault, Nissan and Daimler decided to use STEP AP242-XML + JT XTBREP 9.5 (ISO)

=> Renault and Daimler are exchanging in STEP AP242+JT since 1 year

4. But Specific data mapping is still mandatory or each partnership (structure + metadata)

Conclusion

Going to a Smart, fully Configurable Digital Mockup,

created Breakthrough for Vehicle engineering.

Now Renault is on the way to adapt all downstream applications

to this new capability, keeping digital continuity.
