Our local paper ran the story of the Healdsburg Parade. This is one of Lou’s favorite events. Well, you can imag-ine what he told the paper about not spelling his name correctly but they also called his award winning roadster a Model A. Lou is 97 and can still drive his T in parades. He is our senior member and you can call him Lou or Louie or Louis but don’t call his Model T a Model A!

(As printed in the paper)

President’s MessageHello REMTC Members,

Well, our nice California weather has finally arrived. It is time to get your T’s out and get them ready for a great year of Tours and Fun. I would like to send out a special thanks to all the folks that worked so hard to make our annual safety check such a success. Great food, Great location and Great people!!! These are the things that make our club so wonderful, maybe the best Model T club in the world. (Yes I said it and I believe it)

We have some great events coming up in the next few months. The Forestville Parade hosted by 2 of my favorite people, Pete and Ginny Rich. This is a great parade very short and we get to have a wonderful lunch at the Forestville Youth Park. Our club has been doing this for many years and it is such a nice tradition. We also have the Kenwood 4th of July parade hosted by Linda Saloman. I believe there is a Pancake Breakfast also; can it get better than that?

We also have a scheduled tour by the Holtz’s and Jones in June. It sounds like it is going to be a great tour with free pizza for lunch. See flyer on page 9.

********************** Over Night Tour Update ************************

This years Over Night Tour has been moved from Grass Valley to Willits CA. I am very sorry for this change in Venue but the accommodations and trailer parking in Grass Valley became on obstacle that I could not overcome. Having said that; our new tour location is going to be so much fun. This year’s tour will be called “Skunks, Redwoods and T’s. We are going to ride the famous Skunk Train, see amazing Redwoods and visit the home of the most famous race horse in history.

Please cancel any room reservations that you made with the Best Western Gold Country Inn. Please ask for a cancelation number when you cancel.

Please make your new room reservations with Baechtel Creek Inn and Spa in Willits CA, 707-459-9063. The General Manager Janet Rodrigues is looking forward to us coming to their Inn and Spa so please ask for her when you make your reservations. Our room rate code is REMTC please inform the person taking your reservation that this is for the REMTC Rate. Room Rates are $109.99 for Thursday and $119.99 for Friday and Saturday. Rooms will be held until Aug 1 2012, please reserve early to help us with the planning. Once again I am very sorry for this inconvenience.

One more thing I would like to mention; it has come to my attention that during the last 2 flash tours, I have been leading the tours a bit too fast. This may be the only time in history that a TT truck has been told it was going too fast. I really appreciate this feedback and I will correct this issue in future flash tours.

All the best, Chris

Safety CheckCorn beef and cabbage tastes just as good in May as in March. With plenty of side dishes, appetizers and

desserts, we enjoyed Cinco de Mayo with irish food as good as it gets when Ted Grosman cooks it. Weath-er cancelled our March 17th date and we got into May before we could reschedule. Dave and Sherry Haase have hosted this event for many years now and the property is just perfect with Dave’s barn serving as action central for the T’s. The mechanics worked from 9 to 1 inspecting and handing T owners their inspection sheet with suggestions to fix some safety issues. They did find quite a few prob-lems this year and the owners were happy to know about them. They put 18 T’s through the barn with Ted Shimkowski, Steve Vin-ing and Chris Rich doing the mechanical inspection.

Meanwhile, Ted Grosman was cooking the corn beef in hugh pots and adding the potatoes, carrots and cabbage at just the right time. It was all delicious when we sat down to enjoy the meal with all the trimmin’s. Some of our newer members were introduced to the club and thanks all around to the Haases, Newlins and all the worker bees .
