Statement of Intent(May 2009 School Focus Group)

• Selected Program should result in an efficient building that will provide our students with the finest primary education that we can offer.

• Priorities should maximize the educational experience of our students while giving sufficient flexibility to School District planning

Problem Conditions in Existing Building

1. Gymnasium/ Cafeteria/ Auditorium in one common All Purpose Room.

• Also short on supporting storage areas.

2. Small kitchen area with insufficient serving line and storage facilities.

3. Small Library separated from Computer Room and housed in a 20 year old temporary structure.

4. Shortage of one flexible full size classroom space.

• 10 yr Demographic projection, 206 potential, need for 11 rooms

5. Science and Spanish require a full size room.

6. Shortage of Small Group instructional space.

• ELA AIS, Math AIS, ESL, Flexible small group testing.

• Cafeteria tables, gym equipment, outdoor equipment, business and academic records.

Selected Programmatic Elements

1. New Cafeteria, Kitchen, and associated storage areas.

• Folding wall for flexibility of use.

2. New Library and Computer Room.

3. One full size classroom for shared use as Science and Spanish.

4. Renovation of existing Computer Room and Kitchen to four Small Group instructional rooms.

• 11,461 s.f. New Construction, 1,528 s.f. of Interior Renovation,

• Demolition of existing Library,

• Classroom, Library and Computer Room technology, equipment, furniture, and casework,

• Relocation of field,

• Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing upgrades,

• Contractor General Conditions, Design and Construction Contingencies, Cost Escalation, Owner Soft Cost and Professional Services Fees.
