What is it…?

UK Space Agency led and funded programme

Established in 2014 as a delivery mechanism to enable UK growth

Government team based in Swindon and London

Delivered in collaboration with Government Services team within the

Satellite Applications Catapult, based at Harwell (more on this later)

Helps the public sector save money, innovate and make more effective

policy decisions using space, and indirectly enables wider sector growth

Works with industry, academia and public sector users to bring

sustainable operational services to market which meet a defined public

sector requirement

Covers all satellite applications – earth observation, communications and

position, navigation and timing – and associated business change

aspects

Page 8: Remote Sensing Applications in support of Energy ... · Capabilities • Remote connectivity • Aim for ubiquitous connectivity • Enabling growth in M2M, eHealth, eLearning Capabilities

How does it work?

Raise awareness

Enable access

Demonstrate capability

- Discovery Days / Stakeholder Events

- Training / Topic Specific Workshops

- Conferences / Themed trade shows

- Cross Gov Engagement /Working Groups

- Joining up complementary approaches

- Exploiting wider industry business networks

- Providing neutral advice with reach-back to

technical expertise

- Signposting wider funding and support

- Requirements gathering and definition for

public sector

- Embedded resource

- Targeted competitions, capability showcases

and demonstrators

- Increasing application Case Study portfolio

Page 9: Remote Sensing Applications in support of Energy ... · Capabilities • Remote connectivity • Aim for ubiquitous connectivity • Enabling growth in M2M, eHealth, eLearning Capabilities

Current focus Benefits - Optimising uptake of applications developed so far

Education - Space and Satellite Applications training package for the public sector

Influence - Future policy thinking via involvement in Cross-Government bodies

Delivery - Two strategic themes involving multiple users /departments

• Disaster Risk Management

• Emergency Services

Develop - Exploring appetite for new theme development

• Nuclear

• Energy Infrastructure

If you have user needs (or capabilities) relating to any of these topics

and want to explore how SSGP can help - we would like to hear from you!

Sustainable Living – looking after Earth and natural resources

The UN Global Goals highlight the need for sustainable development of agricultural land and resource usage.

They also highlight the increasing importance of monitoring environmental impact of human activities and mitigation of their negative effects. Focus on:

• Agri-tech • Water • Energy • Extractive and construction industries
