Weekly Focus: Writing descriptive sentences Follow the PowerPoint on Google Classroom for detailed instructions for today’s task. Here is a brief outline:
Imagine you could create a magical plant to live in a habitat of your choice. What would it be?
Write six sentences about your magical creation. Remember to: ● include lots of adjectives (describing words) ● use conjunctions (joining words) to link your ideas. For example, and,
but, because, if and when.
Here is an example: My magical plant is called Chocolato because it grows delicious, mini chocolate bars instead of leaves. When you break a chocolate off, another one grows straight away. Chocolato is the most unusual plant ever and it grows in the rainforest. If you look after it really carefully, beautiful, shiny chocolate flowers might grow. You have to be careful though because you could get a nasty tummy-ache if you eat too much.

Weekly Focus: Writing descriptive sentences Follow the PowerPoint on Google Classroom for detailed instructions for today’s task. Here is a brief outline: Today we have a story starter. Can you finish the story? This is a free writing activity and you can make up the adventure! Moments earlier, she had been standing in her classroom holding the tiny port-key up in her hand, waiting for the magic to happen. With a flash and a puff of smoke, they had vanished into thin air. The port-key had taken them to some strange places before but never to a rainforest. The problem with port-keys is that you never quite know where you’re going to end up! They gazed around them and took in their surroundings; the stifling heat and cacophony of jungle noises put the children on edge - they would have to be exceptionally brave on this particular adventure... Continue the story.
● What animals do they see? ● Why have they landed in a rainforest? Do they need to find
something/someone? ● How will they return home after their adventure?
