Reminiscing the events of this year of MERI-CSR Aaghaz By Apeksha Pandita (MBA-1stSemester)
Visit to DCCW (Delhi Council for Child Welfare)
Playing their part in the society, fulfilling the duties of
compassionate citizens MERI students went on September
3rd, 2014 to DCCW at Yamuna Nagar, Civil Lines, New
Delhi. DCCW is a registered Delhi based NGO, established
in 1952 dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of under-
privileged, abandoned, homeless and disabled children in
and around Delhi.
Green Drive in Delhi
MERI students again make the cut by being responsible
and love for nature both in hand at the Green Drive in
Delhi on September 10th, 2014. Helping in sensitizing the
society of the need & importance of Green Delhi – Clean
Delhi campaign;this helps in combating pollution and
broadening the motto of: ‘For each tree cut, plant 10
saplings’.
Blood Donation Camp
Organised by the Rotary Club on September 23rd, 2014 at the MERI Auditorium in which
the students participated in a big number saving a life by donating blood.
Jammu & Kashmir Relief Fund
In view of the massive flood that hit the Kashmir Valley, we were not behind in providing
aid from our side. This event was held to support the people of valley at the J&K House at
Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on September 28th, 2014.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Week
Invigorating the concept of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi,
the zeal in students was commendable from September 29th, 2014 to October 4, 2014.
Students, teachers, Janitory staff and security guards all joined hands for the success of this
initiative at and around the premises of MERI College.
Diwali Celebration
“While I burn away the sins of this year in the holy light of a Diya and paint this town red
with cheer, Diwali is the beacon of sharing joys and celebrating new beginnings.” MERI
students welcomed the wintery Diwali with the warmth of creativity and celebration at the
MERI campus on October 22nd, 2014.
Aravalli Bio-Diversity Park: From wasteland to paradise in ten years, Vasant Vihar's
biodiversity park has become a sanctuary for rare flora and fauna
February 24th, 2015 morning marked a
day filled with joy, laughter &
knowledge strengthened the bond
between us and nature, but importantly
between students and teachers. The
Aravalli Biodiversity Park in Vasant
Kunj was not only a fun-filled excursion
but also an opportunity to enliven our
sense of belongingness to the
environment.
Health Camp
“An apple a day, keeps the doctor at bay!” As
Buddha rightly said, “Without health, life is not
life; it is only a state of languor & suffering – an
image of death” and so for we care and mean
well, we seek welfare and tips of healthy living in
this Health Camp organized on February 28th,
2015 at B. L. Kapoor Hospital.
Holi Celebration
“Khelo Holi Naturally” – Holi, the most colourful time of
the year; marks the end of the winter gloom and
rejoices in the bloom of the spring time.
While markets flood with commercialized toxic Holi colours of every hue, MERI
encouraged the use of Organic Colours that are made naturally from flowers and
nature’s products like sandal and turmeric by initiating ‘Safe Holi’ at the Campus on
March 4th, 2015, keeping intact the gaiety and glamour of the festival.
MERI – Annual Fest
The most awaited time of the year at MERI is its annual cultural fest, ‘La Kermesse’ held at
the MERI Auditorium on March 20th& 21st, 2015. True to its meaning the annual fest is,
“The Festival” of the college. The fest is always a bubbling crowd of students, enthusiastic
participants, happy teachers and bustling corners of the campus.
Career Counselling
June 2015 is that time of the year at MERI when the old winds change for the new winds to
chime the bells of heart-warming farewell of an old batch and hearty welcome of the new
batch. Career Counselling is one main event organized in this month by the Placement Cell
of the Campus in the institute only, ensuring that each student is guided to their future
path in a clear & sorted manner.
Visit to Old Age Home
“When grace is joined with wrinkles, it is adorable. There is an unspeakable dawn in happy
old age.” Well said by Victor Hugo but less realized by the society. August 27th, 2015 and
few following days spent at Sai Vridh Ashram, NihalVihar with some wrinkled friends of
the society are a magnanimous way of showing love and care and giving happiness to them
by sharing time with those old faces who have been discarded by families and scarred for
life with loneliness.
RakhiHonor
Honoring the Police with the ultimate bond of safety and security respected & regarded
since ages, by tying them Rakhis on the auspicious day of RakshaBandhan on August 28th,
2015 at Hari Nagar Police Station, the team of MERI-CSR embodied the true spirit of Rakhi.
Raahgiri Day
The city’s most celebrated ‘Green Delhi’ initiative by Times of India in association with
NDMC and Delhi Police Department was the recent target of MERI students enjoyed
thoroughly with gusto and gumption on September 6th, 2015 at Connaught Place by
delivering performances by students and encouraging the city to vibe along.
Blood Donation Camp
Blood Donation Camp organized by Rotary Club in association with Indian Overseas Bank
on September 17th, 2015 at the MERI Auditorium. Seeing each donor with a contentment
of, ‘living a life, by giving a life’ – the ambience was even more lit up and the aspiring
donors in the line; were ready for spreading their share of happiness. Much is to thank the
students of MERI College for their sense of responsibilities and the CSR Team for actively
conducting the event.
Self – Defence Training Week&Women Safety Concluding Ceremony
The week period of October 12th, 2015 to October 17th, 2015 can be termed as a
revolutionizing week as Delhi Police conducted a women safety & defence training
programme held at the MERI campus itself, which concluded with a ceremony felicitating
all the female students who participated in this.

2015 to 5th October, 2015
at the campus itself
involving everyone to hold
on to the pledge made last
year for keeping chores
and premises of the
campus in & around clean
and maintain the effort
throughout.
