Reminiscing Glorious 53 years of Vissanji Academy 6 th June 1963, will forever be a memorable day in the history of Vissanji Academy as it was on this day, 53 years ago, the then Minister of Education, Honourable Shri Shantilal Shah inaugurated the school building. The school was established by Late Shri Pratapsinh Vissanji in the memory of his parents Sir Mathuradas Vissanji and Lady Ratanbai Vissanji and named it as ‘Lady Vissanji Girls’ Academy’ after his beloved mother Lady Ratanbai Vissanji. It started as a girls’ school with 38 students and 7 teachers. The Late Mrs. Manek Mody was appointed as the first Principal of the school. In the year 1988, the school welcomed the boys into its fold under the banner ‘Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Boys’ Academy’. In the 90’s, the boys’ and the girls’ schools were merged as a co-ed school under the unified banner of ‘Lady Ratanbai and Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Academy’. The school has flourished and grown by leaps and bounds. It has taken all these years of dedication and single minded commitment by many, to create the distinctive aura and reputation that we all enjoy today and are so proud of. We wish all at Vissanji Academy the very best and pray that the school grows from strength to strength and stays at the pinnacle for eons to come.
