What is Alternative
Spring Break?Lees-McRae’s Alternative Break Program immerses students in short-term service experiences in domestic communities. The experience involves direct service to a community in need, intentional reflection, and FUN!

What do you do on an
Alternative Break trip?
While each trip is different, all trips focus on a particular social issue such as homelessness, the environment, or youth. This trip will focus on environment, hunger, and youth. We will be volunteering with the Tybee Beautification Association, America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia in Savannah and the Tybee YMCA for a total of 15 hours.
Is there an advisor on the
trip?Yes, all trips are required have to an advisor. Advisors are important members of the group and contribute to group discussions and all activities. Advisors ALSO add experience and wisdom to the group and are able to assist students in an emergency situation.

How do I sign up?
This trip costs $150 and is first come first serve. A non-refundable deposit of $75 is due by Friday, March 12th to Selena Hilemon in the McRae House.
Another $75 is due to Nikki Karabinis in the McRae House by Friday, March 19th.
$150 will cover gas, lodging, a bus tour of historical Savannah, and a tour of the lighthouse and fort on Tybee Island. FOOD IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS COST.
