Hitler would announce full re-arma- ment on March 16. • A 7.7 magnitude earthquake hits Quetta, Balochistan, British In- dia (now Pakistan) in the early hours of May 31, killing between 30,000 and 60,000. • Briton Sir Malcolm Campbell sets the land speed record Sept. 3 on the Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah.
