Remember the Basics when Caring for Your Teeth A great smile and a person’s general dental health both depend upon that individual performing the basics of dental care every day. Namely, those basics are brushing one’s teeth and flossing. Brushing and Flossing These are activities that have been taught by mothers across Utah to their nonchalant children who grow up to either regret not following their mothers advice or who are greatly glad they did. Caring for one’s teeth is more than a decent scrubbing every once and awhile or even once a day; and while it is still relatively simple, proper dental care includes a number of check list items and techniques. South Jordan dentists wish to remind those in their city and their fellow Utah residence what those basic dental care habits and techniques are. The first and most important is daily brushing of teeth. Brushing one’s teeth at least twice every day is something that most individuals are familiar with but have a harder time following. Making brushing twice daily a habit can be simple if you brush once in the morning and once at night before going to bed. Do not feel like you need to rush through these twice daily brushings. Remember the Basics when Caring for Your Teeth A great smile and a person’s general dental health both depend upon that individual performing the

basics of dental care every day. Namely, those basics are brushing one’s teeth and flossing.

Brushing and Flossing These are activities that have been taught by mothers across

Utah to their nonchalant children who grow up to either

regret not following their mothers advice or who are greatly

glad they did. Caring for one’s teeth is more than a decent

scrubbing every once and awhile or even once a day; and

while it is still relatively simple, proper dental care includes a

number of check list items and techniques.

South Jordan dentists wish to remind those in their city and

their fellow Utah residence what those basic dental care habits and techniques are. The first and most

important is daily brushing of teeth.

Brushing one’s teeth at least twice every day is something that most individuals are familiar with but

have a harder time following. Making brushing twice daily a habit can be simple if you brush once in the

morning and once at night before going to bed.

Do not feel like you need to rush through these twice daily brushings. Take time to do the job properly

and effectively clean the teeth for with dental care, as with so many other things in life, intent means

less than action.

Taking the Time to Brush Your Teeth Effectively Taking the time to brush your teeth effectively may take up to two minutes or more but a healthy smile

and clean teeth will be well worth the time spent. Effective teeth brushing will also depend greatly

upon the equipment and supplies used by the person trying to clean their teeth.

Having fluoride toothpaste and a toothbrush that fits your mouth well will greatly improve your dental

health. Along with having the right equipment, one should keep their toothbrush and other dental care

equipment clean and sanitary.

A common mistake in this regard is to keep the toothbrush in a closed space or container for storage.

Doings so fosters bacteria growth on the toothbrush and the toothbrush should therefore be kept

stored in open spaces in an upright position if possible.

Remember also to use good technique when brushing your teeth. Good technique when brushing teeth

includes brushing with a soft had and not being to vigorous or energetic while brushing as this will ware

away tooth enamel.

Brushing the tongue of the mouth and the inside surfaces of the teeth is

often overlooked but should be done equally twice daily. Flossing also is a

key component to proper dental hygiene.

Importance of Flossing Flossing cleans in between teeth and other areas that a normal toothbrush

cannot go. By flossing twice daily at a minimum a person can remove

harmful cavity producing bacteria from forming in the mouth.

Flossing will be made easier for the person as they continue to perform the

act daily. With these reminders and tips for how to properly care for your

teeth, South Jordan dentists are hopeful that all of their patients can have bright and healthy smiles.
