Remco are pleased to introduce a catalogue dedicated to Fan Blades, Wheels and Accessories, and to present a new range of Motor Driven Backward Curved Centrifugal Fan Units.
The new range incorporates six popular sizes of centrifugal backward curved units from 133mm diameter to 250mm diameter, all driven by efficient and quiet external rotor motors. (See pages 4 to 10)
Frequently used in refrigeration and ventilating appliances, the new range will be popular with maintenance engineers, stockists and wholesalers.
For many years Remco have been suppliers of axial fans and centrifugal fan wheels. Our stocks are extensive and continually expanding. This catalogue seeks to include all styles held in stock, many of which have not previously appeared in any of our literature. Included are one-piece aluminium fans, with and without drive hubs for refrigeration use, bladed impellers for larger and heavier duties, and centrifugal fan wheels. Not to be confused with our new range of backward curved fan wheels, our forward curved centrifugal fan wheels are available for single and double inlet blowers using the popular aluminium 'ladder' strip construction, and also many in steel 'tablock' designs for higher temperature applications, such as boiler draught inducer fans.
A new range of tangential fan wheels is also introduced. (Pages 20 & 22.)
No range of fans can ever be fully comprehensive in offering practical replacements for the vast numbers of design variations found in the field. Remco recognise this and have therefore created a selection of adaptors and accessories enabling our fans and wheels to be fitted in almost all situations encountered. (See pages 26 and 27.)
Remco offer a full refurbishment service for fan decks and blowers, even to the point of providing new sheet steelwork for decks and scrolls.
Remco Products Limited is the leading supplier in the United Kingdom for Replacement Electric Motors in the Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration markets.
For full details of our motors, fans and capacitors please contact our sales office in Chichester. Alternatively, please visit our web site at www. remco.co.uk

Remco's backward curved centrifugal fan units are motor driven by efficient, quiet and compact external rotor motors equipped with ball bearings.
Backward curved fan wheels incorporate a small number of long blades, designed to sweep air outwards, as opposed to forward curved impellers, which feature large numbers of shallow blades, which cup the air and project it forward. Backward curved fans are frequently run without the need for a scroll around the fan, and create a high pressure area around the wheel, which even in a rectangular enclosure permits the exhaust air to be released in any direction desired.
Remco are offering six sizes of backward curved units, 133, 175, 190, 220, 225 and 250mm diameter. Our fan wheels are of moulded plastic or plastic/metal construction with drive motors which are suitable for operation in any attitude. Units run at 2 pole speed and are suitable for either 50 or 60 Hz supply. As is common with centrifugal fans the heaviest load occurs at free discharge, i.e.. with no back pressure. Electrical data therefore reflects these operating conditions.

Remco ‘ladder’ strip construction impellers are manufactured from a continuous strip of formed blades which are ‘roll seamed’ and locked into the back plate on one side and the inlet ring on the other to provide a rigid, concentric impeller wheel.
It is affixed to the motor shaft via a zinc plated hub with grub screw.
Our recently extended range of single inlet fan wheels reflects the most commonly requested sizes in the replacement market.
Please ask Remco for the availability of other sizes if they are not shown here.

'Tablock' centrifugal fan wheels are manufactured from individual steel blades, which are locked, using tabs and slots, into the back plate and end ring to form a rigid, forward curved, centrifugal fan.
The effective width of the fan blades is greater than with other types of fan construction, which results in improved air flow and higher running efficiency.
Usually finished with a galvanising process 'tablock' wheels are frequently found in applications where high ambient temperatures are encountered.

On this and the following page we have attempted to demonstrate how the direction of air flow created by a fan may be changed by the manner in which it is fitted to a motor shaft.Remember, fans are normally described as being Clockwise or Anti-clockwise. The easy way to tell which rotation fan you have is to lay it on a flat surface with one blade approximately at 12 o’clock. If the right hand edge of that blade is touching the table, then it is a Clockwise fan. If the left hand edge of the fan touches the table, then it is an Anti-clockwise fan. Turning the fan over makes no difference to which edge touches the table. For one piece fans we show below four illustrations showing the air flow direction for both clockwise and anti-clockwise fans fitted to motors both with clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation, looking on the shaft end. Remember also that a fan runs correctly when the concave sides of the fan blades are facing the direction of rotation.

On this page we show the same relationships demonstrated on page 18, but for fans with hubs. Here, when describing a fan requirement, it is useful also to add whether the fan is fixed to the motor shaft with the fan hub to the front, ie. on the opposite side of the fan to the motor, or with the fan hub to the rear, ie. on the same side of the fan as the motor.
The same rules for clockwise and anti-clockwise fans apply as on the previous page.

Remco is happy to announce a further addition to its range of fan wheels. We now offer Tangential fan wheels for use in small electric heaters, convectors and refrigeration and air conditioning evaporator units.
Two diameters are available, 100 mm and 60 mm, with a wide selection of lengths, and options for clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation. Both units feature aluminium blades and are equipped with a ball bearing at one end and a drive hub at the other.
Suitable for use with our XM Range, 33 range or 24 range motors our tangential fan wheels provide a solution to replacement requirements, without the need to source scrolls and housings, and eliminate the problems associated with fitting complete fan units with non standard mountings.

Tangential fan wheels of 60 mm diameter are very typically driven by skeleton shaded pole motors, either in single or double shaft format.
Remco offer a wide selection of such motors in their 24 frame range. The suggestions given below therefore offer a guide as to the ideal motor output for the various lengths of fan wheel in our range.
Motor 24-2-3C (0.5” stack) drives a maximum of 1 x 240 mm long fan wheel.
Motors of 5 watts output, (0.75” stack) 24-2-5A, 24-2-5C and 24-2-5DS drive a maximum of 1 x 300 mm or 2 x 240 mm fans.
Motors of 10 watts output, (1” stack) 24-2-10A, 24-2-10C and 24-2-10DS drive a maximum of 1 x 420 mm or 2 x 360 mm fans.
Motors of 12 watts output, (1.25” stack) 24-2-12A, 24-2-12C and 24-2-12DS drive a maximum of 1 x 420 mm in single shaft format, or 2 x 420 mm fans as a double shaft motor.
Other motors in our 24 frame range may obviously be used as customers feel appropriate and a full listing of sizes and outputs is available in our general motor catalogue.

Remco have recently added to their range ten tangential, or cross flow fan wheels of popular 100mm diameter.
Providing excellent air distribution along the length of the wheel and of quiet operation, this style of fan is increasingly to be found in heating and air conditioning units fitted to noise sensitive areas such as offices and hotel bedrooms.
100mm diameter wheels are frequently used with our XM-4-30A and XM-4-50A external rotor motors shown on page 23 of this catalogue, but are also used with conventional motors such as our stock no. 35-4-50A
Wheels are normally for anti-clockwise rotation, the only exception being TA100x340CW which is specifically for clockwise operation. This wheel is frequently run with our 35-6-6C motor.
Wheels TA100x571ACW and TA100x930ACW are normally run in under floor heating units with motors 33-6-8A and 33-4-30A1 respectively. A separate mounting plate is supplied where necessary thus preventing air loss from the heat exchanger.

Remco offer two models of 4 pole external rotor motor for use with the tangential fans shown on the previous page. These general use motors may of course be used in other applications.
XM-4-30A, with 30 watts output, is normally used on 100mm diameter fans up to 500mm in length. The more powerful counterpart, XM-4-50A, with 50 watts output can drive fans up to 1000mm in length in both Heating and Air Conditioning Applications.
These two motors provide useful replacements for motors found in fan decks both in heating and in air conditioning units and are fitted with ball bearings. Shafts are 8mm diameter with 40mm extension to allow easy fitting to the commonly found rubber drive hub incorporated in the driven end of the fan impeller.
